bypass valve.

i have been reading post about installing the bypass valve, and well alot of post i have read says that its a waste of money and time unless you plan to run through a river.

i live in cali, and right now we are getting a big storm comming our way, and at times on the street there is probably about 3 inches 6 at the most of water. everytime i go over even a alit bit of water my heart beats like crazy thinking that i will suck up some water.

is it ok to still drive without a valve?
will small amounts of water getting to the filter be ok as long as it is not submerged?
cause out cars have the small hole at the bottom where the filter is. and that isnt helping my piece of mind.

oh yea if it isnt nessary i really dont want to install the valve cause of alot of people saying performance is decreased after install.

thanks

Most of the time hydrolock occurs when the driver underestimates a puddle and drives through it accelerating. The CAI at idle is already sucking air and when you accelerate, the CAI will only suck even more air. So as water is splashing up and your accerlerating, that will only cause the CAI to suck it up thus producing hydrolock. The bypass valve does work and if where you live has quite a bit of puddles, I would definitely invest into a bypass valve. I currently have the CAI with no bypass valve and this raining season is already scaring me. I'm going to switch to the Comptech Ice Box when it's released.

The bypass valve is more for a peace of mind than anything else. Cause if you are stupid enough to drive thru a puddle (no matter how deep) then you deserved it.

But also remember that a $40 investment is way cheaper than replacing a whole engine.:wow:

Let me end this now. Stop being cheap and buy the $40 bypass valve and you will never have to worry again.
