Bypass(fake) the computer question????
#2
you are speaking of an aftermarket unit correct?? I'm not familiar w/ the factory screen, as i dont have the navi. Anywayz bypassing aftermarket units vary depending on the unit. with some of the older units, u can simply ground out the parking brake wire, some of the newer ones u can add a switch to it and then it gets even more advanced, requiring soldering and such. One universal trick that works on most units, even the newer units, is simply pushing the e-brake down enough for the light to come on, but not enough to actually make a dif.

what do you mean by "pushing the e-brake down enough for the light to come on, but not enough to actually make a dif"? that one doesn't solve the problem, does it?

exactly which unit do u have because there is no one universal solution. Different units are bypassed differently. and what i meant was just push the e-brake down one click, just until the BRAKE light on ur cluster comes on, but dont push the brake down all the way for it to grip the rotors. Im not sure if it would work w/ our cars, but on most cars it works. im in class right now, but when i get out ill check and see if itll work in our cars.

it would help if you told us what kind go head unit you have... most older models, you can just ground the parking brake wire, and it'll work. Alpine i believe requires a bypass, and all the pioneer info u need can probably be found on avic411

ok sorry i lied, i think for the 6800dvd u hav to hook u[ the parking brake wire to a switch. just put one side of the switch to ground and the other side to the parking brake wire. i think it needs a pulsed ground signal.
