Burned Cd's In Stock Head Unit

Anyone know if there is a way to play burned CD's in the stock 2001 Bose system? Is there another type of CD I can use, I am really trying to avoid buying a new head unit.

Thanks,

Mike

the stock head unit should be able to play burned cd's. did you finalized the burn process? if so, try using another media (cd-r)

They work in other CD players, its a CD-R disc. But they never get started in the Acura head unit. Anybody else have this problem?

Mine plays CD-R, but beware if your CD-R's have a paper label they will not play, or at least in mine

Mine will ONLY play Maxell CD-R Music and of course, it must be finalized. Do a search and you'll find a lot of information about this because it's been discussed 58749739857398 times

this subject has been beat to death. do a search. the TL is NOTORIOUS for not playing CD-R's. there is no specific brand, no burn speed , no software that will help. if you are one of the lucky ones all you can do is try different types and see. it is completly hit and miss.

Well I guess the unit varies among each other. For me I used to burn over 20x on audio CDs and for my car, they would play like more than half the CD fine, but near the end the CD skips. I used to use TDK cds but that wans't the problem for me. Now when I burn at 8x, I get NO problems ever since. All the CD's I burn now work 100% of the time. I use memerox CDs now but I doubt brand should make any difference, only in the life time of the CD.

But I agree with fsttyms1, I'm probably just one of the lucky ones. (And also about the "do a search" )

the best ones i found that would actaully play in my car (half the time) were the Verbatium Azul Blue. no other brand would play in mine, other than the occasional(and by that i mean ocassional!) were memorex

I am one of the "un" lucky one's

I ended up installing a CD Changer in the trunk so that I can play my CD-R's. It also plays MP3's now.

I had problems with burned CD's, then I slowed the burn speed down to 4X and now I have no problems listening to my burned CD's. I've heard some people give good explanations from both sides on why this does and does not work. May be I just got lucky, but it might be worth a try before you purchase some more hardware. Good luck!

you got lucky. this is a OLD problem that isnt brought up in the 02-03 like it was in the 99-01 alot of good info was written in the past on the issues that teh bloz cd player had with cdr's and it baisicly came down to wether you were a lucky one or not that it played. me it didnt mater if i burned 1x or 50x or any thing in between. they just wouldnt play. and Many others had the exact same issue. acura replaced my HU tring to solve the issue and it was spotty as to wether they would play.

Use TDK 650 MB CDRs. I use those and they work everytime. I have tried over 12 brands and TDK is the most compatible but like I said 650 MB ones only.

yea i got the same problem, but then i used nero burner with sony cd-r's and they work perfectly fine, i can (90% of the time) switch to whichever track i want to and it usually plays, but for some reason my center dash gets really hot, i think cause it tries really hard to read the disc, but still plays it. so try those.

it really is different in different cars. on my TL it reads fujifilm cdr's while my friend's tl it only reads verbatim cdr's. mine doesnt read the verbatims.. so youre gonna have to try a bunch out and see which works and which dont. also, when burned cd's are being played, mine does the same thing MeldyS26's TL does.. after a while the center console gets extremely hot and the cd player just shuts off. so i just turn on the radio and listen to that for about 20 minutes and put it back on cd player. the 99-01 TL's suck when it comes to playing burned cd's. better to just get a new HU
