Burned Cd's In Stock Head Unit
Burned Cd's In Stock Head Unit
Anyone know if there is a way to play burned CD's in the stock 2001 Bose system? Is there another type of CD I can use, I am really trying to avoid buying a new head unit.
Thanks,
Mike

this subject has been beat to death. do a search. the TL is NOTORIOUS for not playing CD-R's. there is no specific brand, no burn speed , no software that will help. if you are one of the lucky ones all you can do is try different types and see. it is completly hit and miss.

Well I guess the unit varies among each other. For me I used to burn over 20x on audio CDs and for my car, they would play like more than half the CD fine, but near the end the CD skips. I used to use TDK cds but that wans't the problem for me. Now when I burn at 8x, I get NO problems ever since. All the CD's I burn now work 100% of the time. I use memerox CDs now but I doubt brand should make any difference, only in the life time of the CD.
But I agree with fsttyms1, I'm probably just one of the lucky ones. (And also about the "do a search"
)

the best ones i found that would actaully play in my car (half the time) were the Verbatium Azul Blue. no other brand would play in mine, other than the occasional(and by that i mean ocassional!) were memorex

yeah that sounds like a plan, i might just do that, when i have some spare cash.
I had problems with burned CD's, then I slowed the burn speed down to 4X and now I have no problems listening to my burned CD's. I've heard some people give good explanations from both sides on why this does and does not work. May be I just got lucky, but it might be worth a try before you purchase some more hardware. Good luck!

yea i got the same problem, but then i used nero burner with sony cd-r's and they work perfectly fine, i can (90% of the time) switch to whichever track i want to and it usually plays, but for some reason my center dash gets really hot, i think cause it tries really hard to read the disc, but still plays it. so try those.
it really is different in different cars. on my TL it reads fujifilm cdr's while my friend's tl it only reads verbatim cdr's. mine doesnt read the verbatims.. so youre gonna have to try a bunch out and see which works and which dont. also, when burned cd's are being played, mine does the same thing MeldyS26's TL does.. after a while the center console gets extremely hot and the cd player just shuts off. so i just turn on the radio and listen to that for about 20 minutes and put it back on cd player. the 99-01 TL's suck when it comes to playing burned cd's. better to just get a new HU
