low beams (HID) -- d2r (factory installed size with the "correct" beam pattern) or d2s
high beams (Halogens) -- 9005

from the factory u get d2r's 4300k low beam
Excelerate has d2s which fit perfectly in place for the d2r.
4300k is white
5000k has a hint of blue but lots of white still
6000k has more blue but also white
6500k (i have) had more blue but i still see good at night.

always replace in pairs, when one goes out the other one will go out soon.

Partially right. D2R is what our vehicles use for low beams, but we DO NOT have D2S on our vehicles. Our high beams are HB3 (9005 halogens). D2S is for projector type headlights (like what the 04's+ use), d2r is for reflector types (like ours). Unless you did a projector retrofit mod which calls for D2S, you have to use D2R's. You will notice D2R's by the black strip along the glass of the bulb, whereas D2S doesn't have it.

Really both reflect light, it's just that projector headlights aim or focus the light into a certain pattern.

4300K is our stock [factory] color temp. The higher color temp you go the less luminosity, or amount of light you get, and the more glare you will get. Glare = BAD!

AND REMEMBER to change both bulbs at the same time...if you can afford it. Do this to have the same color, otherwise you will notice a difference between the bulb still installed and the new one that you install. And remember that it will take some hours of use, i think around 100 hours, before the true color of the bulb(s) set in.

If you put D2S, you'll get glare won't you? Because the black strip on the D2R is there to stop some light from reflecting in certain directions [in the reflection] headlamp to stop glare.

wont get glare. Both headlights (99-01 and 02-03) have diffusers.

It's not the color you should worry about. It's the glare for oncoming drivers and the loss in visibility at night.

So 6000k would still have more visibility than regular halogens though right? I could only get 6000k from Excelerate at the time to replace my stock ones.

i would have done more research before you went with 8k my friend. you will get much less visibility on the road almost TOO blue in many cases.

LeeDan is right but if 8000k for headlights and 8000k for fogs then its even more clearer to see on the road. The only issue im having right now is its too bright and gotta watch out for cops lol

Ok I know the subject has been beat to death but do 5000 or 6000 pick up words on signs better? I know people say higher color temp. is less visibility but I've heard 6000 picks up words while losing close range visibility but I fogs to cover that

my 6500k picks up reflectors in the street and on the pole really good. not a big problem for me with the visibility issue.
