Brake Light Electrical Problem
Brake Light Electrical Problem
So I go to work this morning thinking my car is fine.. nothing wrong. Go to work.. come home.. and I approach my car and start trying to disarm the car. Nothing. I get closer and try to disarm again. Nothing. So I'm like "what the f*ck is wrong??" I put the key into the door, and unlock the door, and notice when I open the door, that the courtesy light on the door panel didn't light up, and neither did the dome light. I put the key in the ignition, turn the key. Nothing. The car was completely dead. I called up a friend, who came by, and we attempted to jump the car. The car started. So I figured I had something wrong with the battery since I've been having some problems with it over the past couple of months. So.. I jump in the car.. head home... shut off my lights, and the car.. and as I walk around the back of the car.. I notice that all the brake lights were on.. the rear tails.. the LED light in the spoiler, and the 3rd brake light in the window. Apparently, I have an electrical problem with the brakes. So.. it seems that when I drove my car .9 miles to the train station this morning, there must have been some sort of short in the brake system, and the lights remained on, but I didn't notice it because I got out of my car, armed the car, and walked away. Why would I notice the brake lights are on in broad daylight. So.. tomorrow morning I'm calling up Acura and bringing it in for an emergency electrical problem.
This should be interesting to see what happens. Did/has this happened to anyone else with the car? I have an '02 TLS.

Not on an Acura, but the same thing happened to me on a Firebird I once had. Turned out the car had a switch/button behind the vertical bar for the brakes, which illuminated the brake lights when a certain amount of pressure is put on the pedal. The switch itself jammed, for whatever lame reason. I think the mechanic I took it to either cleaned the switch or replaced it. Either way, it was only a few bucks to fix.
So here's the end result of what happened - Turns out I had a bad break relay switch or some $hit like that. Acura covered it under warranty, and even replaced my battery free of charge. Glad its fixed.
