Blitzsafe installed, CF shifter trim

i finally got the blitzsafe installed by a friend and bought a CF shifter trim collar from a guy from the forums at the black market section..

the Blitzsafe mod is awesome, 60 bucks anywhere that sells it, and it takes no longer than 30 minutes to install. i also love this because if you have a MP3 Player small enough you can have the wire coming through the back of the HU and into the "not an ashtray" tray..

my mp3 player hides away when you close that little compartment! i love it!

you cant really see the wire from these angles for the blitzsafe adapter, but its there. i really like how i got the wire through the back, it keeps that whole area looking clean and wireless, but im getting about 1000 songs without using the single cd player that cant even play burned cdrs!! the quality is amazing too!

some of you may think the cf trim collar is alittle tacky, but i think it looks pretty nice with the chrome shifter for the 99tl's. and i think the oem collars are too plain and cheap looking.

no, but what you could do is get a car power outlet charger thing for your mp3 player, and you could just connect it to the power outlet right next to the "not an ashtray" tray and this will also give it a pretty clean look. but it depends on the size of the outlet plug.. mine takes AAA battery and it lasts 80 hours nonstop so it doesnt really matter. i keep a huge pack of AAA battery in the glove compartment anyways.

yeah i was actually thinking of that. the CF doesn look bad at all.. just need to get the others cf too. the wood isnt as fitting as it usedto be on my car anymore. the outside is too sporty looking now and when you sit in it looks like a luxury vehicle, but once im on the road its too loud to be considered really that luxurious.. dont get that quiet, subtle feel anymore while driving.

NSXNEXT....did you do that yourself, or have it done at a body shop? If you had it done, how much was it? It looks great!

shiet, go buy one and do it yourself...man up, dude! hahaaa...j/k. the install isnt too bad. i installed the adaptor without removing the center console and radio. i hid the adaptor behind the carpeting near the passenger-side footwell area, ran the Y-cable underneath the armrest area between the seats, drilled a hole into the cupholder and inserted the cable thru it and into the center armrest compartment. this way, you cant tell that there's a wire at all. very clean install.

i got a friend to help me out, but its not too bad to do.. just get the side wood trims off, then start unscrewing those bolts. there are two screws in the center compartment, unscrew those and the whole center part should pull out. then you start getting the screws from where the diagnostic port plug is. this should get that whole ashtray part off. then you just easily pull off the side panels, and just try to stick the adapter from there. its not too bad to do.. and if youre getting it done for 150, youre spending way too much money. the adapter is only 60 dollars, and the Y-cable is only 5 dollars at radio shack.

its called a Razo Exec wood/chrome sports knob or something.. i got it at a local rice shop. i though it was pretty cool since the top part matches the OEM wood really well and the bottom chrome part went well with the shift plate for the 99TL's.

i just got lucky with the on the black market section. if you go to private sales and trades on this forum, you'll find many different things that barely anyone even knew existed for our cars. you might want to check there every now and then.

also, the blitzsafe adapter topics been really common for the last two weeks, you can search and you'll find massive information about it now. that's how i got mine. its 60 bucks, and you can find it anywhere, there's websites which you can find links to everywhere if you searched, and you could also try ebay.

i have a Sony Walkman NW-E99.

the reason i chose this over the ipods were because of the size. i love how its so small and i could just stuff it into that little tray. also the battery life is awesome compared to ipods and i love how you can compress the songs so that you can fit more than a normal 1gig mp3 player can.

Aaronn, I got the same shift knob from a member here, TL Dustin, and the knob sits to low on the highest setting. You can't shift gate past D3 or else you'll scrap up your chrome shift plate. I've noticed the paint on the chrome is coming off so I took paint remover and took off the paint and made it a brighter chrome. Have you thought of any modifications for the knob to fit better?
