Black trim on doors

Has only noticed the black door trim on their A-frame i think it is (the black pieces on the door which are between the front door and rear door) flaking? i am woundering if it might be covered under warrenty or something. it seems odd that it is flaking.

mine are the same also, you can get them repainted or get new ones. My dealer said they are a pain in the ass to replace...dont know if thats true or they just want to justify the stupid labor costs (I believe the later).

This is very common. the black window trim was taped on until about 03, then the pieces came painted from the factory. So they replaced a inferiour tape with a shitty paint job that flakes off. phuckers!!!

we just bought a 2002 TL-S certified from a dealer.... the deal was at night and I didn't even notice that the trim (all 4 pieces on the B pillar?) looked like ass, anyway next day see them and i take the car down to service to see what can be done.

zero problems, service advisor is replacing them all under warranty as well as some of the other smaller trim around the doors. he even said it was fairly common on the TLs.. also had no problems getting replacement center caps (the A symbol) as the clear coat on all 4 looked like it was bubbling... good job Pflueger Acura in Hawaii!! too bad this shit wasn't taken care of during the "certification" process.. but oh well, all is good.

You cant get the trim fixed under warr after 50k miles even w/ the ext warr. the vertical pieces are plastic painted from the factory and the thin trim is painted at a body shop. the body shop job will last a long time but the acura painted pieces WILL FLAKE! dont let them take your vertical pieces that have the tape(if applicable) because that tape will last and not bubble because it dosnt have the window rubber pushing on it everytime you close your windows. But the new FACTORY painted pieces will turn to shit in less than a year.
