Your experience is why I did the fax attack. Once I got one dealer to send a return fax, agreeing to my price in writing, I got my price. The second dealer (who happened to be Joe at South Coast) then said he would give me the price if I could prove another dealer agreed in writing. And the rest is history. At the end I had three written offers, including one with VIN number and I was driving out of there with my prize in world record time.

I can symphysis with your venting. Being 40 years old I have dealt with many sales people who will promise anything to reel you in with the hope of getting a sale. This is why I was suprised when South Coast Acura (John H)gave me a price of 29450 (TL-S non NAV) and then stuck with it with no hassles. This included no pressure for extended warranty or other hidden dealer markups in the finance office. I did not use a fax attack but instead used this forum, Edmunds, and visiting the dealers to gauge who would give the best deal. I do think though that using a fax attack may help you if you do not have the time to waste with dealers that will promise anything and then not deliver at closing time, unlike my experience at South Coast.
