Axis Brake pads squeling!!

Hey guys,
I just got my brakes installed like 2 weeks ago. I got the Axis Meatel Masters from the site. They started to squeal today and when I hit the brakes they dont stop like the stock brakes used to. Do you think there is a problem with the installation that the shop did? or the brakes? Any of you with the Axis Metal masters know what im talking about?

I got my Endless pads from Tim, and I had no problems with squealing, and my stopping distance and brake feel has improved greatly.

When you had your pads installed, did you by any chance have your rotors resurfaced? Reason I asked is that if you just slap on the new pads without resurfacing your rotors, that can cause squealing. I resurfaced my rotors before my Endless pads were installed.

Or another possibility is that your new pads have brake dust trapped on it, and everytime you brake, it will squeal.
I suggest trying to wipe clean your pads and your rotors of any brake dust, and using some sort of CO2 spray can to pressure clean the brake and rotor. If that doesn't work, go back to the mechanic and ask if the squealing is due to the rotors not being resurfaced.

Couple things that lots of quick change places ignore:

- they probably did not put the pad shims back on
- they probably did not use anti-squeal grease on the back of brake pads and pad shims

I have Axxis Metal Master on my AV6 and don't have any sqeal at all.

they are wafer-thin pieces of metal that you put on the back of your brake pads...suppose to take the place of the anti-squeal grease.

I don't know if this info will help...with my Endless pads, I found out that there was a breaking in period of about 500 km before they really worked well. Also, the hotter the brakes got over the course of driving, the better the stopping and feel of the brakes. I had the same problem at first too - the Endless didn't stop like the stock brakes did. Oh, which reminds me one other thing: before installing my pads, instructions given stated that I had to sand down the pads on concrete (or use a sander to sand off maybe half a millimeter or so). If this wasn't done, the pads might sqeal; because there was a coating on top of my pads (don't know why, just is). Did you sand your pads a bit?

So I would recommend giving your pads some time to break in, as well as do some gentle braking (brake gently, hold the brake pedal down several seconds, let go, and repeat braking) during the morning as you go to work or school, whatever. If you haven't done so already, take your pads off and have the surface of the pad sanded down a little. IF it doesn't get better by 500 kms and you can rule out it's not the mechanic's fault, then it's a good guess the Axis pads you got might be from a bad batch. Hope Tim gives a refund!
