Why is it that official photo's of a car look sooooo good, for example:

Now, If I walk into a dealership right now, is there going to be such little wheel gap on the front and back?

Maybe the driver in that pic is really fat and he has some luggage in the trunk??
Notice also how the front windshield is tinted as well??

I've noticed that too.. just like how come hamburgers look soooo good on tv but when you get it, it is deflated and dry...

It seems like it is done intentionally to make you go and take a look for yourself..

Look at any car ad (TV or print) and you'll see less wheel gap and tinted glass. In the real world most people need that clearance. But it is deceiving - but be cool with my man wayneg, he's our man on the inside

Isn't that misrepresenting a product? This(The pic they show you) is what they are selling, but this(the floor model on it's tippytoes) is what you're getting!

regarding to the misprinting product:
Look at the new Subaru WRX commerical.
It has a Turbo Timer on it with Single Tip Exhaust like Trust.
If you are going to the dealership, the car looks different with dual little tips and no Turbo timers. Well, that's the marketing strategy they are using from commercial. No complaint.

Ed:

I have still NEVER bought a burger at a fast food place the has looked ANYTHING like the ad on tv. If those places showed the crap they server, they'd be out of business REAL quick. Deception, bait & switch, false advertising.... whatever you call it, they still got your interest and got you into their business...

I agree that it sucks, but if they showed big gaps over the wheels (they are big, I saw a few in person) they would only lose sales. By showing it lowered, they can only gain sales.

Damn, now I'm getting pi$$ed at the advertising they use..... thanks Ed!

Ed, I think its just an advertising gimmick. When most people look at the car they dont notice "wheel gap" like us enthusiasts. They try to make the pictures visually appealing while the cars are "more practical".

Oh yeah take it easy on Wayne, hes a good guy.

Guys- thanks for the vote of confidence American Honda recently changed Ad agencys- I don't know who does their photography. I can say you are right, most people would never notice the difference unless you point it out. Thats why we have 1 car lowered with body kit, 1 not lowered with body kit and 1 bone stock- so you can compare them all. everybody has different tastes and when yo are in business selling a product, the more needs you can fill the better you can do. Thus concludes our Marketing 101 lecture for today!

i think you can argue(playing devils advocate here) that the brochure is only there to get u to the dealership, they never tell you ur buying THAT car, they are saying this is what ur car might look like, and if you have any questions regarding it, u can ask before u buy...

I never would've notice the gap until you guys pointed it out. I definitely prefer the car in the brochure as opposed to the one in person. I don't even think that the dealer that I went to when I test drove the TLS, had a lowered TLS. I don't know that much about the ride difference and things like that regarding the Comptech springs, but it DEFINITELY looks better and that's what I would be expecting to see on the dealer lot.

Just think about their marketing strategy and the people that Acura are trying to draw towards the TL. IMO, most of the people that I see driving TLs aren't "modding" their cars at all, it's 100% stock. I guess we're the "minority" compared to the "majority" of the ppl that have purchased the TLs.

BTW, I think that this forum is a great source of information. I really enjoy logging on and listening to all the topics of discussion (except OT, it was gettin' kind of heated in there for a minute ). Thanks!!
