flushing a 2nd gen tl or any other car with high miles is not good. you can dislodge some really old stuff that wont drain out of your tranny and jack up your seals. do a 3x3x flush and refill.

dont go to jiffylube, a flush on our cars is a 3x drain and refill. between each drain and refill u have to drive the car around making sure to go into each gear.

search tranny drain and fill. you can do it your self if u have a jack, jack stand and some basic tools. if u have some experience around tools you can do it. if not take it to a local shop and explain how to do it for that car and watch them.

if the fluid is smelling burnt dont that mean that your tranny is pretty much toast? or going to soon be toast? not a good thing.

that means that no one took care of it.
theirs a company that can do a fluid sample check and tell u whats in your fluid. so when u drain it send some out to them, they give u what u need to send it out. can remember what the companys called, just came across it on one of these threads on here.

Your sensor didnt get burnt, Especially from the fluid. The sensor failed. Dont have a trans flush done. Have the fluid drained and have it refilled. If you want completely new fluid you will have to buy between 9 and 12 quarts and drain, fill, drive for 5 min making sure it shifts into each gear and repeat. This can be done in your garage/driveway (the drain fill) without any special tools.
