2000 TL Power Steering HELP!!!

2000 TL Power Steering HELP!!!

i have a 2000 TL... with 75,000 miles.. i seen to have a problem with my power steering.. its not hard to turn the wheel but its not soft either....i have done the following:

- check the power steering fluid.. OK!

also every time i open the hood.. around the power steering resevoir..its always oily...like the power steering is shoting out...not a lot..though..cause resovoir is still full....i dont know if this is a problem...


any help or advise is greatly appreciated..

flush the system, ps fluid should be red in color.

^ I agree, flush the old fluid and purge any air from the PS system. Also be sure to use Honda approved fluid when replenishing unit. Ensure that the drive belt is properly tensioned and check all hose connector fittings for tightness. Do not overfill the reservoir.

How do you know its a problem? Did it change? Does the effort change once moving?

The system is firm in general. If you are comparing this to another car it's going to be different. If you've seen it get stiffer, I'd look into service.

The unit is going to be oily, because when topped up or flushed most folks spill a little. Best to wash it with soap/water and look for new oil before getting to excited.

My guess is that it's firm compared to another car you're used to driving and I'd just leave it alone.
