Hey guys I did a Atf flush at a honda dealership in Nov' 11. I was wondering if I did a drain and fill now is that bad? Should I leave it as it is? Feedback please. Thanks

 

They probably just did a 3 qt. change. Best to do a 3x3 with the newer DW-1 fluid.
How many miles on the trans? Original or replacement?

 

I'm not sure about the tranny if its a replacement or not its running good though. I have 134k on it. Im a noob when it comes to a acura tl. I had a civic for about 5 years before buying the TL. Whats the 3x3 method?

 

Check the faQs sections -but basically when you do a change you get about 3 qts out of the trans. By doing the 3qts 3 times you effectively replace all the fluid.
Our transmissions have very small clutch packs and tend to run hot and burn out so constant vigilence is needed. ONLY use Honda/Acura ATF no generic brands (some use Amsoil or Redline with good results). Oh and NEVER flush the trans just maintain normal changes.

 

You can only drain 3 qts at a time. That's all that will come out.

You drain three, clean the magnet on the end of the drain plug, and fill with three quarts.

Amazingly important to use Honda ATF fluid.

Drive around a little [I might drive for a day or more; some guys say to drive five minutes] do it again, and then again.

 

acura says 5 minutes drive using each gear up and down
it will drain between 3 and 3.4 us qts
critical to replace same amount
total amount should be ckd trans warm from 15 minute freeway cruise
in park engine off = between the dots at that temp

dealer uses special machine and acura/honda fluid, they do change all the fluid
need to see invoice for qts to know what was done
last year should have been on dw1 the new stuff
Wise men change 3 qts every year,,more is ok too!

Get 4. as you go through the changes save the extra each time. by the 4th change it's like you got 1 qt free!

 

I usually get 3 & drain. then put back in just the 3. After checking dipstick, it's always in the middle. YMMV a very little bit I suppose.

Speaking of, I gotta do this shit tomorrow again to complete my 3x3
