No Problems Yet...........

I tried to start a post like this a few months ago, and there were just too many sour grapes to deal with. The NHTSA site investigated this problem and still found it to be less than 3% in all 2002. Me..........................38,000 miles and running like a sewing machine!

I hear tranny problem between 45k-60k miles. If you don't have it, then you should be able to breathe easier. My car approaching there but I have a solution to fix it permanently. It's a problem with cheap bearings used by Honda. Vehicles affected are our TL's, CL's, Oddesseys, Accords, and RSXs(All automatic/manumatic).

My bad... i meant to say could have a solution. Didn't mean to put anyone's hopes up. One of my pals said there is a possibility to solve the transmission problem through swapping the TL tranny with MDX tranny since that one isn't faulty. Cost wise I don't know and if it's true, I'll follow through soon, have to check with some friends. Other than that, just fixing it or replacing with same tranny will just result in same problem again.

Question

OK,
When I started this thread I thought to see more people...
20 is not a very optimistic # considering the size of the club.
Anyone else with a "non-sick" tranny ?

OK, I know, mine is blown and this thread is about people WITHOUT trans problems. I thought I was in the clear since it appears the majority of the trans go with low mileage, however I put 55000 HIGWAY miles on my 02 TL-S in just over a year and it just let go with 70K on it.

So be weary if you THINK you have a good trans since you've got some miles on it...but most of your mileage is at cruising speed...

02TL, 20k miles.....my car is running better than ever!!!

some tips to keep ur tranny stay out of trouble:

use D4 when u have 4-5 passanger in city, that helps a lot since the torque converter is unlocked in D4 and D3

don't engine braking all the time, that will cause the transmission overheated

do not hold high rpm in low gear, the transmission will get overheated easily

drive nicely, this car has more than enough power even with just a little throttle, it's not a 4 banger that u have to floor it every single time...

TL-S has a high risk of blowing tranny becoz of the extra power, but TL-P should be alert coz they are using the same tranny~

hope this helps~ =)
