Question Amp & Sub Wiring question

Hey guys i wanted to know if this setup would work... i want to add after market subs and an amp to the stock system. it seems simple but im not a a/v guru. i already have power going to the amp and it turns on and all. im having trouble wiring it. i havent tried this setup but figured i would ask before i did. check out the schematic below.

i will post this here as well as in the audio forum. thanks in advance.

disconect the oem sub. it will be usless. Then get a line converter (speaker wires conect one side the other side has RCA's) then connect them to teh new amp

so i can use the output from the stock amp, hook the +/- to the LOC and then the RCA's from the LOC to the new amp?

Yep, I would check on a higher power loc if hooking up to the amp on the output side. I fried a loc there, and needed a higher wattage handeling one. Otherwise conect to it before the amp and thanks.

You setup will work since you have high-level inputs on your aftermarket amp. fsttyms1's way is more flexible so you can get an aftermarket amp without the high-level inputs.

I think the best way to do it is to tap the signal before the stock amp. It'll take some wire color matching, but the signal before the stock amp makes it so you don't have to deal with LOCs and other conversion circuitry to bring the speaker-level inputs down to pre-amp inputs. If you feel confident about your soldering skills, you can always chop the heads off of RCAs and solder the wires in before the stock amp and have pre-amp RCAs for your aftermarket amp.

so you already have a redtop and your wondering if you should get a redtop???? If you have 1 No you dont need another. (unless you plan on throwing acouple thousand watts at them in which case a cap would be a good idea too)

Get rid of the factory sub. remove it. it will be usless and by removing it you open a port for the bass to better come into the car
