Alarm Systems- needed or not ??
What is lacking in the factory alarm that came with my 2002 TL-S.
I know the key has the computerized chip and the "alarm" is the horn. I don't think it has a shock senor, but I don't want to add any systems that will screw up the system i have now. I heard of something called PowerLock and I am thinking of Adding that system but it seems like I am duplicating coverage, unless the system that comes with the car isn't all that
Any ideas??
PS those who have had attempts and still have their cars your input will be appreciated. Hey experience counts

Since you live in NYC, you definitely need an extra alarm. And no it does not interfere with the stock alarm. A friend of mine on this board (Bigmonkey70) installed the shock, motion, glass, and tilt sensor on top of my stock alarm. I can't be too careful and plus my car is pretty modded so I need to protect it as best as I can.
not alarms! the factory alarm won't keep your car from getting stolen!or your $3,500 HID'S getting stolen and replaced... tilt motion sensors, proximty warning sensors, engine kill, etc. pay thousands for mods, protect them! www.clifford.com av4 is the shiz!

You have two options;
1) modify the stock alarm by adding additional sensors into the alarm loop(shock, proximity, hood switches, ect).
2)purchase an aftermarket alarm and have it installed.
It all depends on what you want. Modifying the stock alarm is the cheapest way, expecially with a shock sensor. An aftermarket alarm will give you the best protection though.
I suggest the compustar alarms which are a 2-way page back device that will notify you within about half a mile to a mile of your alarm going off, remote start, blah, blah, blah.
The point is that you feel MUCH more secure about your expensive car when you baby phones home to you telling you the alarm is going off.
Here is their website-----> www.compustar.org/
just click the link
I always wished someone would Fock with my car so I could bash their brain on the side of my car window with a golf club
That's what those biyatches get for trying to mess with something that you worked so hard for!!

I just recently had my Clifford Solaris installed with shock sensors for the lights because in my area, Glen Oaks, there have been random acts of violence involving TL-S's. Everything from window's being broken to wheel's being stolen. There have even been a couple of car thefts at a local strip mall. I didn't want to risk it so at the advice of Mr. Hyde, one of the Moderators here, I took my car to a local shop and had them install the alarm for me!! They did a great job and it works great!!

No car alarm will stop a professional, but will definitely deter the punks. A pager is a pretty good idea, especially if you are in a high crime prone area, such as the north east. I'd like to know as well if anyone with an aftermarket alarm has had a theft attempt that was thwarted by the alarm.
I'm getting my Compustar alarm this saturday. My whole sound system was stolen a month ago.(over 3000$ stuffs..)
oh and at that time of incident, I had my Crime stopper system with bunch of extras... but I was inside of the friend'z apartment and of course, I didn't hear the alarm going off.
These dayz.. nobody cares if neibor's car alarm goes off or not..
People just don't care.
I realized that alarms like Compustar can notify me when my car alarm goes off.. That's what I need.
I was gonna get Clifford but it still not gonna tell me when something is happening to my car when i'm sleeping at night.

Sorry to hear about your loss... I dont understand why people just don't pay attention to alarms going off anymore. Whenever I hear one I always look to see who's ****ing with a vehicle. I've even gone up to people that look suspicious and asked them why their alarms going off... I wish I still had my compustar

Well after some searching and researchin I am now look at the intelliguard 7000 and the compustar. I was told that because of the remote start feature I need to get another key made by acura because I have the chip in the key. I can get one coded but not cut
, wonder how much that will cost
Anyway the price difference looks to be about 450 for intelliguard and 550 for compustar.
Just trying to find out if the rumors that clifford brands had alot of problems and that why they were bought out by Viper. and the released some new brand called Matrix.
The things u do to protect the ones u luv.
PS one of the other threads talked about how the shock sensor saved their headlight even though their was some damage to the car first.

I have a Clifford IG8000 model & it was purchased over 2yrs ago.
This was before the Clifford company was purchased by DEI. I never knew anything about anthing being wrong with the alarms. The company & technology was just purchased by another larger company. This happens everyday larger companies by smaller ones. I have never had any problems yet with mine in the 2yrs of ownership. I also never have here anything bad about the Clifford brand. I first found out alot about the Clifford brand on the old old ACURA TL board alot of people had them.
