Advice on repaint job

My dealer has offered to do a partial repaint job to help cover up a substandard paint job they originally did before they sold me my TL (Yeah, I bought it as new and found out later that it had damaged on the dealer lot.)
Anyway, would it be better to try and get the whole car repainted? I'm afraid that if they paint just a couple of doors, these will never match the rest of the car.
My TL is White Diamond Pearl, so it's really easy to see a mismatch between the bumpers and the rest of the body.
-Thanks!

Try to get them to re-paint the "whole" car! - can't hurt to bitch at them... Even if they do the partial job - and you don't like it - you would have them redo it - PRESS ON!

Yeah, that's what I was kinda thinking too. The WDP paint is notoriously difficult to match, so going for a complete repaint job is probably the way to go.

Thanks!

its not like they are cust going to "paint" a few doors. Its called BLENDING which is the prcess of thinning out the paint and teh area to which they spread the material on. A skilled painter could blend an area and you would never know

What do you think the chances are they are now going to do a professional job? I would say fight it - you have nothing to lose.

What year is the TL, and what, if any recourse do you have against the dealer for selling you a damaged product as new? I don't think I'd be real happy with the dealer for doing this, and would probably demand that the whole car be repainted the right way- if it's not, you will never be happy with the result. Hate to get the attorneys involved, but sometimes, you gotta do what you have to.

Well if they dont want a law suit id say pretty good, Also with out seeing this "substandard" paint job we actually dont know how bad it really is. Also didnt you notice this "substandard" paint job before you bought it? Whats wrong with it? Are you sure it was repainted?? Acura has been known to have different color bumpers than the rest of the body on the wdp cars. (plastics aer known to be harder to match)

The car is a 2003 TL-S. I did notice the difference in the paint color and actually pointed it out to the dealer at my first two major service intervals. The service people kept dodging it, saying "Acura always has problems witht the WDP paint." I took the car back in recently to have the black tape on the window frames replaced (it was peeling off in many places). When I picked the car up, the service guy asked me when my car had been in an accident. He then showed me other tell-tale signs that the car had been in a body shop. To make a long story short, I'm trying the get the dealer where I bought the car to make it right!

The tell tale signs are areas where if you look closely in the right light you can see that the paint doesn't match; it's slightly darker. Also, on the inside of the door, and on the pillar, there are various 'overspray' paint marks, including some drips. Also, the interior area around the damage has always had a lot of rattles and squeaks.

Hey, I own a 03 WDP as well.. and fsttyms is right with the blending tecnique. My bumper had a hole in it after a slight fender bender and some paint damage, my body shop was able to spot paint the area and blend it in with the rest of the bumper to make the finish look extremely nice. and unoticeable. I wasn't able to tell the difference in paint at all and I understand that WDP is hard to match, after all I can still notice my OEM body kit is slightly brighter then the rest of the car.

But you should be safe if they blend it in, just find out what body shop they want to use to fix it up for you, and then just check out their work to see if you like it.

So do you think that if they blend the paint on one side of the car it should be pretty much unnoticable? I was thinking that they should do a complete repaint job on the whole car - less risk of an area not matching the rest of the paint.

That is over kill and they would Never do that (i would be very surprised if they did, due to cost and time). they will blend the paint so that its unnoticable

I agree, however, its bull shit that you have to even settle for that since you bought the car brand new and should live up to brand new standards. I'd call up Acura client services and take it there to see maybe if you can either get compensated or what not, I'd feel very cheated if that happened to me.

In yours guy's opinion, should I get my body kit painted WDP and then put it on, or put it on and have them blend paint it so it matches better?

Sorry to

I gotta disagree and say the chances are pretty iffy. They damaged the car on the lot, fixed it and did what appears to be a shoddy job covering it up. Then they sold it as new. Thats pretty dishonest, and shows a bit about what they are like to me.
