Acura Tl V8 Swap lol....

Hey guys hope you all have had a good year, i wanted to see what you guys thought about this build i have in the next year.
i have drawn out what i want but really didnt know if any of you have come across some builds online to where someone has posted how they have mounted a v8 in our engine bays...ect. the set up i have built on paper will entail a chevy 4.8 w/ a 4l80 trans and i am going to fit a 240 rear and make everything work somehow ha. i will be posting pictures when i do it all so that is something to look forward to. let me know what you all think and again if you have come acrossed anyone doing it in the past or attempted to do this kind of build!!!

probably gonna have to cut the front end up and use a mustang II clip.

your creation will probably resemble nothing like the TL

because the engine bay is too small to fit a longitudinal engine layout.

^Taurus SHO V8 would fit but I'd rather do a 3.7L build, no real hacking required to make it work

Oh, and you will need to figure out a new steering rack, cut your center tunnel and make it bigger, a whole new rear subframe and gas tank too just to add a few.

make a thread while the build is going on so we can see what you're doing. Then just keep updating it

Wow! i honestly think it's got potential to be a really cool idea... Someday I'd like to make my TL into a track car. Maybe turn the engine 90 degrees and find a way to make it RWD.

Good luck with your build, I'll be keepin up on it!

the problem with that is; it wont be a TL when you're done with it.

it would be better off to turbo the J32 keeping off the weight of a V8.

with a turbo; you can have 400hp at 1500 RPM while keeping the TL's suspension geometry.

this would be the better route, INSTEAD of hacking up the TL to accommodate a V8.
because the heavy ass v8 and hacked up drive train will affect the TL's great suspension.

here's a v8 swapped 3rd gen TL with a 8.8 ford mustang rear end.

it completely destroys the handling of the 3rd gen TL.

I would keep my J32, just turn it so the crank pulley was in the right direction for the RWD conversion. I love that engine, so if anything I would bore it out a bit and yeah turbos would be sweet, or even the comptech supercharger kit would be kinda cool.

As far as that 3rd gen, im sure it sounds great but I gotta have the handling to match any power it's making.

here's probably the only RWD CL ever in existence

this is our very own ThinJim.
although not a V8, it still took him years and years and plenty of thousands and thousands of dollars to achieve what he has.
it's a built turbo J-series and he's running 9.60 @140 in the quarter mile

I understand why it makes sense to keep the FWD setup, but to me, that's one of the only downfalls of the TL. It's reliable, makes decent power, handles well with just a few mods, and personally, I like the looks of it a lot. That being said, the FWD limits the handling at a certain point, and even though it's a pipe dream right now, I think I could make my TL more track-spec but still preserve the identity of the car. Time will have to tell

You won't be boring it out and turboing it unless you spend the money on resleeving it. There isn't much for material between the cylinders for it. I went 1 mm on my bore to go from 89 mm to 90 mm and it gets thin as it goes deeper in the block (naturally aspirated ) . Keep the bore the same if ur going to boost it. Going larger will hurt it.

I like her face... The middle one looks like a gross whore. Not a fan of implants either, to be honest... I prefer itty bitties over fakes. Plus, the one in yellow is taller. Me likey long legs

Edit: I can't tell if the one in yellow has implants or not. I'm assuming not though
