AC blower motor connector harness
AC blower motor connector harness
Okay so I was reading up on the connector being melted and all on the TL's AC blower motor as a common problem. So I was going to buy the updated harness and replace it instead of waiting for it to fail on me. The has been reports that the harness gets hot and melted. Well i rode with AC on for 30 mins and reached down there and feel the harness. It's NOT hot at all....I don't know how the harness can be "melt" if it's not hot. Should I go ahead and swap it out anyways? Any comment/input?
yes go ahead and change it now before the failure
Also apply dielectric connecter grease inside it to help cool and prevent corrosion
30 minutes is nothing- try driving in 105 heat with ac on full blast cold for a few to several hours,,,everything gets HOT
the higher the fan speed the more electricty= more heat thru connector
On my Honda bike the main 3 wire connector coming off the ~alternator~ had a replacement wiring available for 12 bucks- mine was melted and loose rusty wire ends
Now it starts first try and the lights are much brighter
Bet it looks similar to the connector in the car!

if fire was a constant danger on every car- like the ps hose prob on gen3 that could shoot fluid on the exhaust and did cause some fires--then it would get a recall
Our gen2 oil jet kit install was a recall - to protect every TL from possible snapping of the gearshaft and coming to a quick stop from 70,
but the extended warranty was a different situation
it takes a lot of known failures to get a recall-
Its my belief- when a driver smells the wires and plastic melting, they would have it looked at and fixed before there was a fire
There is no mistaking that smell -you will want out of the car fast and have it checked without hesitation
I just learned of this replacement part thanks to azine,
since my honda bike had a similar wire connector issue and replacing it fixed a few things, I will be changing the one on the TL..20 bucks to not worry when the wife is driving with the ac fan on 5 and the temp set at 63 so it never shuts off..is cheap insurance for my mind
Who knows- might make the fan work better too!

ok question, when i was driving the other day i had the air conditioning on full blast and when i took a turn i heard a click and it just stopped working. No heat, no air conditioning, nothing. the controls work fine but nothing happens. Could this have anything to do with it? btw ive never smelled any burning or melting in the car.
remove the glovebox as if you were doing cabin air filter replacement
remove blower motor on its panel
check resistor on back and wire connection-harness condition
There should also be a fuse, but I dont dont location and never heard of it popping/fixing the ac prob
