A4 1.8T or TLS ?

Well, I have get a new car as the 1999 3.2TL is for sale.

I can get the TLS for $36K plus tax and the A4 1.8T for $42.5 plus tax, CDN $.

consider I have a TL and want something RWD or 4WD! And they don't offer blue on black in Canada on the TLS or the grey ext

Or is the TLS just better

What to do............

My next vehicle that replaces my current Type-S will have more HP than 260 HP in the current Type-S
Go get a copy of the March 02 Consumer Report and it has an article comparing Type-S, A4 V6, I35, ES300, X-type.

TL-S are 41950$C and TL 37950$C

I wouldn't touch the A4 without the 6 cyl. You'll be disappointed if you go with 1.8T / Tip. If you want to switch something different, you can try a Passat GLS 4Motion.

In this price range, my choice would be a BMW 325i if manual, TL-S or Passat if you need an automatic.

Wait a month and check out the Infiniti G35 too before making your decision.

It is the opposite, the TL type S is 41 950 CAD and the Audi 1.8T start at 37 000 CAD.

i had a 99' A4 2.8quattro manual. although manual shift is a lot of fun, it just can't compete with tl-s regarding the speed.

I was going to say, where can you get a new TL-s for $36,000 CDN? They are $41000 CDN + destination, with not a great deal of haggling room. You should read this months Consumers Reports, as it compares the TL-s and A4 amongst others. The A4 had an electrical problem that left the car broken down.

I wonder if in Canada, is Audi combined with a VW dealer? They do this often here in NJ and you wonder if you are getting Audi serivce of VW Service. Or are the VW owners getting Audi service? My friend has an Audi and she ways that it's just a pain to just even get scheduled in for service.

Most Audi dealers I have seen are stand alone as are the VWs.

i think the only Audi you should consider would be the s-series. s4, was a car i was seriously considering. but with that extra load on the price tag.... the TLs was a lot more appealing.

The Cdn dealer cost on the TLS is 37,720. You can get one for $1000 over invoice, probably no better.

Anyhow, it really depends on your priorities.

I have a 2001 A4 1.8T Tip Quattro with sport package and a 2002 TL type S.

They are different beasts, if you tell us what is important to you then we can help you make your decision.

ie.

1. Do you corner aggressively?
2. Do you drive mostly in the city or on the highway?
3. Do you need a large back seat?

Without a doubt, I prefer the Audi for aggressive city driving and twisty roads, but the TLS is a better highway cruiser.
