99 TL - Brake Light Issue

I have searched Google and these forums but not sure that I have a definitive answer so any ideas would be great.

I have a 99 TL 3.2 that is having the no brake light issue. The 3rd brake light, however, does work. Also, all rear taillights come on fine when parking lights/headlights are active. Fuse under hood has been checked (20A). Also have checked under dash - brake switch seems fine as it works for the 3rd brake light.

Is there something in the rear tail light area that I need to check? What else could it be?

A few more tid bits. New 7443 bulbs were installed last night. There are no dash warning lights regarding this either.

Since there are no dash warning lights about this could it be the tail light brake failure sensor that is bad? If anyone has any experience w/ this, please let me know. Hopefully it is nothing regarding bad or shorted out wiring somewhere.

That would make sense, as the high mount brake light circuit bypasses the the light malfunction sensor. With the brake pedal depressed, you should have power into the sensor on the white with black tracer wire. The green wire goes from the sensor to the brake lights. The sensor is at the left rear, in the trunk, behind the trim.

I'd pull the bulb again and put a meter to the bulb connection. Confirm no current.

Trace back to the tail light and confirm again there.

Must have a wire/connector or bulb plug loose or messed up.

Edit: for bad english
