Does anyone else have that squeling problem with the front windows on their 1st gen TL? Its really annoying, it sounds like the glass is rubbing. Anyone repair this or know whats causing it?

yeah actually i got that same noise but only on the front driver side window...and also only when its wet.. after it rains or after a car wash.. asked around about it .. said they couldn't do anything about it
It actually seems like the glass is loose or something and its rubbing on the way up. You can see mine slow down at a certain point and then it speeds up.
Go back to your Acura dealer there is a service bullitin regarding this common noise on 1st generation TL series cars.Essentially what needs to happen is the felt glass stabilizers located inside the door need to replaced in the car.If your vehicle has VIN number that does not fall into the range of vehicles affected by this problem ,we have found that replacing the stabilizers will solve the problem anyway.
Does this cost alot to do? I would rather do it myself than go to the dealer. Anyone have personal experience with this annoying problem?

It seems like the window is not on the track tight and when it goes up it moves forward causing it to rub against something and it doesnt sound good. Maybe the glass needs to be tightened? I dont know how the window works inside, I haven't checked it out yet.

OK, no big deal probably. Get some silicone spray on lubricant, will be next to WD-40 at discount auto parts, home depot, anywhere really.
Roll ALL your windows down, get a paper towel. Now spray the silicone lube into the tracks at the front and rear of all the windows. Try to not let the silicone spray get on the interior, it won't hurt, but it kinda smells for a little. Make sure you spray on the rubber seals on the inside and outside of the window track. Let it dry completely, it will change color, from dark wet black, to normal dry black. You probably want to repeat once or twice. When the silicone lubricant dries, little bits of silicone are actually doing the lubrication, therefore it is important to let it dry, wet silicone lube will not last, it will rub off. Good luck
This should do it, if not.....you might have to take off your door panel and do what I call refurbishing the power windows, but it will stop your regulators from snapping eventually (probably). But don't worry about this if the silicone fixes your problem.

I actually have a long series of horizontal scratches on the glass as a result of the window thing.
Thanks for the info. Plus both my driver and front pass. windows take a long ass time to go up and down. Is this the same problem that silicone might fix?

I Have found the answer to this problem! Acura will shy away from this problem as warranty work despite the service bullitin they have received. The scratches are caused by tension guides that hold the window in place (because of the missing guides like regular cars). The way to fix is order the parts, its only the outside two because they #1 are subjected to the dirt and water and #2 have the most tension. Unscrew the door screws, pop the door panel off, disconnect the electrical wires and slide off the chrome molding on the top. This will expose the felt pads that hang on the door. Snap the new ones on and that should last another 4 years. If scratches (like mine) remain, Go to a detail shop or an auto glass repair shop and buy a scratch remover. Good luck

Actually, my 1st gen TL had the scratching
window problem. Took it to Los Gatos Honda
and they said it was covered under warranty
and they replaced it (all 4 windows and the tension guides).
If you want to get the parts, call up the Los Gatos Honda dealership in the Bay Area,CA. www.losgatosacura.com

not sure if this will help but one time i was in friends car in the back seat and i noticed lot squealing wind noise goin 60 mph, strange but i found where it came from, in in both back windows, with the window closed you reach your finger in the windows where the rubber strip is its towards the front side of the back window. i was able to see outside because of that. the wind noise was coming from there

I also hear that noise from my passenger window. LET ME ASK YOU GUYS THIS....do any of you hear your windows rattle when you go over bumps or over those little reflectors on the streets???? i think its because i roll down my windows half way and slam my door shut and that causes some loose screws or something. anybody else with the problem?????

My drivers side window makes rattling noise if its open halfway and I hit bumbs. It only does it once in a while. I love my TL, but the windows really suck! The drivers side also screeches very bad sometimes.Originally posted by TLBaller:

holy... everyone's got some beef going on with their windows
so far the only problem i have with mine is that the front driver side window squeals whenever its wet (ie. after carwash or when it rains)
other than that.. no wind noise (either that or its drowned out by my exhaust.. hehe ) and no other problems
