Ok well i mounted the tranny to the engine and set it in the engine compartment to test fit for clearance. I need the bolts to the mounts that im missing to get it to sit accuratly in there but its extremly close right now (have slightly smaller bolts slid into place on the tranny mounts on driver side).

It sits higher than the TL-P motor by quite a bit

BUT
It fits.

Im not sure how much the engine rocks under load, but there is around 1/2 inch min at its closest, of clearance across the intire top of the IM. Now i dont believe that the plastic engine cover will fit with out hitting? and im not sure if the hood liner will fit. I guess ill find out down the road wether it hits once i can start driving it.

I wonder how much of the height is the different intake manifold and how much is the rest of the engine?

Kris, gotta go feed the baby. Awesome work. Thanks for the effort. Hopefully you're feeling better. Let us know what else you find out.

Would love to see if the TypeS intake manifold bolts onto your old engine.

Methinks you're going to need a "little" hood bubble on your TL now

Oh, and the trailer you used to pick up the engine is sweet... (no pics of the tow vehicle ??)

Im not going to take the dime to write up a DIY. Im going to post what i used and what i found out along the way in the main thread i have. It would be 2 indepth of a DIY. If someone were to run into a problem i would help out So far it hasnt been any harder than changing shocks and springs (ofcourse having all the right tools does help. But you can rent engine hoists to help matters) Im sure there will have been cheaper or different ways of doing this but i wanted every thing to be as plug and play as possible

Kris, don't forget you'll have a higher redline with the type-s ecu/engine, so the tach won't be right (minor issue..) Will the yocal acura dealer flash your old key/ignition cylinder to the new ecu? Great job, I might have to head to the northwoods this summer just to check out your ride... unless mine falls under the knife also. Now that I have the ws-6 to rip around in, the tl has become a garage queen and it is getting more and more tempting to install a 6 speed, then I will have 2 6 speeds . later

What a project! I've been following your progress and your on top of it all the way. BTW, why didn't you pressure clean everything before the engine install? Are you going to put headers on it too? Good work!
