The part in the 3rd pic is whats on the tranny and lines go to the PS rack. Its that end that needs to be pluged(the PS- which im still trying to figure out how to do with out leaking since they are 2 different dia's)

Yes there's no speed sensor on the PS, the speed sensor I'm talking is the same on in 3rd pic the speed sensor from the tranny. D is the inlet hose and E is the outlet hose. This part is use to controll the stiffnes of the PS wheel.

what I'm thinking is to leave this part in place and hide it somewhere, since you are not going to use this part with your new tranny. This way you do not have to search for a fitting to connect these two line togather.

you other choice is to try to find something from Aeroquip, Russell or Earl's performance plumbing to connect these two lines togather.

How exactly is the steering assist controlled with the manual? Can you adapt that system to work with your steering rack?

Kris you making this seem so easy haha .From reading this, i am guessing that for those of us that has a type-s and want to do the swap, it'll be alot easier. Kris, what do you estimate the total price to do this will be?

And on a side note, I always wonder if it was possible to swap an 04+ manual tranny into an 02-03 tl as well.

It would be cheaper for sure as you wouldnt have to buy the engine, or most likely modify the hood to fit like on the 99-01 front). cost depending on how much you can get teh parts for 3-6k (depending on wether you go used or new)

i think it would be harder to find an 04+ 6 sp tranny but thats just my logic.

what would be cool is finding another transmission that would fit or may fit with a special plate or something. but theres still alot of work besides just changing the tranny, clutch pedel, ecu, axles, and im sure im missing a bunch of stuff.

Why would you need a different tranny? the CLS one is a direct bolt on.

Kris have you already began looking into all the parts you're going to need for the interior, or are you not at that stage yet? It seems like this would be an overwhelming task. I'm assuming that once you succeed and own the only 2000 TL-S 6MT (exclusive in more ways than one, as you can see) that you're never going to get rid of the car?

the cls tranny is hard to come by used, if there was a transmission in hondas/ acuras that was more widely availible like integra tranny's and such. since just the cls tranny bolts up thats the one and only option availible.

i was just saying if there was another tranny that would bolt up with little modification that would be better

I know this is non-sequitur but did you ever notice in most engine/tranny swap threads like this there is always the goofy friend or goofy neighbor or drunken person acting like an idiot? LOL. I always get a kick out of those pics.

Steering Rack

For what its worth, the Type S is actually quicker than the rack in the premiums. Its a 16.11 ratio versus 15.84 for the premium. This results in 2.88 turns lock to lock for the Type S compared to 3.06 for the premium.

Plus it might make things easier using the Type S rack so you don't have to worry about having the speed sensitive rack versus the torque sensitive, plus it won't require any sort of rigging to get to work (I don't think).

will the clutch master/slave cylinders fit the same as the cl-s or will they have to be custom mounted? also how are you planning to mount the clutch pedal?
