the wiring on our car is not that bad, wait till you work on the new MB S600, and the new bmws. I hate them, you cannot do anything without a computer, everything is controll by the ecu, including the stupid power window switch. the switch is not direct connected to the power windows motors, the switch is just a sensor that connect to the ecu, and the ecu command the motor to go up or down. Work on few of these and I almost gave up on a S600 where someone broke in and stole the climet control unit, navagation and few other things. oh btw they use fiber optic from the front to the back of the car that control the brake and tail lamp

 

I can't make any sense of the transmission. I wouldn't know what's top or bottom! You're a brave man.

Well i havent given up on it. Ive just been busy with work, and trying to track parts down. Trying ot get the ECU has been tricky. But i found one this am and got it ordered. So progress will start soon.

BTW - I didn't realize you were in Appleton. I've flown in there several times for Delta. They put us up at the Scampton Inn, I mean, the Hampton inn over there by the mall. I always go over to that brewery in the mall and get plastered. Whats that beer called? Fox Light or somethin?

 

Havent picked up the motor yet. I havent had time to take the road trip to go get it. Im expecting to go sometime towards teh end of the month. Im awaiting my ECU and other mounts and harness yet this week. Every thing was shipped and is in route.

It takes some serious fortitude to do what you're doing. I did have one question: since the TL's were never originally designed to have a 6 speed, do you forsee a problem with installation of a clutch pedal? Also, is there any drilling or holesaw cutting of the firewall to accomodate the clutch pedal? I would assume you are using the gear from a wrecked CL 6 speed, right?

Ill probably have to drill (not sure havent looked since the TL is an accord, it may have it??)
The clutch pedal and stuff will mostlikely come from a civic or accord

The CL doesnt have a "frame" our cars are unit body, that means every thing is welded together as 1 so no. So far nothing is hard, from a mechanical stand point i dont think there will be any thing hard about it, it will just be converting what wiring that needs to be converted (which i havent gotten to yet, but will address when i get to it.)

I got to digging today and removed the parking brake pedal and started to look how and where to mount the clutch pedal. They spot welded a bracket in for the parking brake, BUT Behind it the firewall is stamped where the clutch pedal gets bolted up!!!!! The spots are marked where the holes are supposed to be for the pedal and the master cyl for the clutch pieces.!!!! SO to refrase that, the firewall is designed for a CLUTCH PEDAL!!! I got a pedal and assembly from the junk yard from a mid-late90's civic and its exactly what you will need. Ill try to get some pics up later.

no it means that they just made one standard piece for all cars, the cl, tl, accord etc.

No our car is baisicly a accord. the firewall is the same as the accord which on the 4 cyl versions you could get a manual

 

I posted some updated pics of where the clutch pedal mounts. Tomorrow i plan on drilling out the holes and temp mounting the clutch and changing the brake pedal. Ill get pic of that tomorrow

I really dont have alot of time durring the week. Usually im out of town on the weekdays for work and the only time i have is on the weekends.
As my parts come in this week hopefully ill be able to get more done this week.
