Sorry to bring this old thread back, but this standalone ecu that comes with its own crank sensor.. what is it called? And how do you go about installing it? Would the harness match the ECU itself for easy plug and play or is there more complications involved? Would it work even for an engine that is not turbo charged?

Also, even if the 6MT's supercharged, are you able to still use the standalone ECU?

Nothing is simple when using stand alones. Your better off (and most likely cheaper) to just use the oem sensor and crank for your application

Yeah, I was wondering about that myself. I've been checking back at this thread and his Stage 2 Turbo thread but there's nothing new.

Alright, I'm ordering a few more parts, the sensor will be last for me to buy... it SUCKS. Anyway, here's a diagram from First Acura's parts department for the timing belt cover... which one do I get?.. just indicate the number and I'll know exactly what it is.

I started doing everything little by little since I'll be driving it as I'm doing the conversion .... The pedal and parking brake will be first, then once I find a way to get the tranny and engine, then I'll put the car out of commission and really start to get my hands dirty.

2003
Engine

Part 10 and i believe 15. (which ever sensor goes to the CL-S manual. You would also need the cam gear for the manual, and the lower timing belt gear

But if you can get the whole front clip, I would highly recommend going that route

Read all 43 pages!! AWESOME JOB man! I like it....

Putting this mod at the top of my list after getting my new car!
(We'll, right after installing my current stereo system anyhow).

Your first on East Coast... Who's claiming the West?
I'll have to set aside the parts for the 3.5L and do them at the same time...

Cheers!!

Whenever you do the parking break relocation, please take pics, and make a DIY. I was thinking about doing that a while ago.

Thats pretty easy to do. the hardest part is modifying the center console for the CL manual cup holder. When blk2001tlon19s sends me his center console (i told him i would do it because he lent me his code reader during my conversion) i can make a DIY.

If you buy the hand brake and the few little parts that go with it and take your console apart you will see it bolts right up with the exception of 2 holes that need to be carefully drilled out to revel the 2 nuts. Once you have the cup holder you will see what needs to be trimmed out on the console

Alright, I'm going for it... Next week, I'll request for the parts to be placed on hold for me. Engine, Tranny, everything.

I asked them to leave the Engine attached to the tranny so it'll be easier for me. The total amount of mileage on this is just over 21,000. Would I have to worry about replacing the clutch on this or no?

I wouldn't think so at 21,000 miles, but since it's out of the car, I'd check it. It'd be a real pain to get it all done only to find out it's slipping.

Yeah.. that would suck .. but then again, I'll take my chances.. at this point, i'm so fed up with the automatic that I'll do anything to get rid of the problem. The guys over at the salvage yard said that everything was working properly with no slippage, but we'll see.

Yea, I remember you telling me it would be easy a while ago. I will most likely do the console switch once u make the diy.

You could start it and i could help you out along the way too. Once you get the parts you will see its easy and where it bolts up.

Talking

In your project of the 6 speed conversion. What did you have to do that was absolutely necessary? Did you have to disassemble your whole dash, get new motor mounts, wiring harness, etc.? If your can answer these questions for me then it would help tremendously!

Parts list is complete( Finally). There were a few Misc parts i left out like some bolts. I got most of them either from using the parts list HERE Or i went to my local hardware store (used Grade 8s to be safe)

Engine. J32A2 If needing a new engine look for a CLs-6 motor (if not see below *)
03 CLs-6 speed manual.
03 CLs-6 Manual Engine Harness. 32110-PGE-A11
03 CLs 6 speed ECU
03 CLs-6 Flywheel 22105-PGE-305
03 CLs-6 Flywheel bolts (Qty 8) 90011-PGE-000
03 CLs-6 Clutch Assembly 22105-PGE-305 (unfortunately right now there arent many options for aftermarket clutches)
03 CLs-6 Rear Engine mount and bracket 50810-S3M-A01, 50827-S3M-A00, BOLT (m12X25) 90166-S3M-A00
03 CLs-6 Rearand Front Engine Dampenerand bracket (i would reccomend aftermarket here)
03 CLs-6 Shifter and cables. 54100-S3M-A01, 54310-S3M-A01
03 CLs-6 Starter 31200-PGE-A11 (try to locate used, its expensive)
03 CLs-6 Gauges
03 CLs-6 Hydraulic Clutch lines. 46960-S3M-A01, & 46970-S3M-A01
03 CLs-6 Trans mounts (2 of them) 50806-S3M-A03, 50805-S3M-A03
03 CLs-6 Cup Holder 77230-S3M-A01ZA
03 CLs-6 Parking brake 47105-S3M-A04ZA and to go with it,
Spring 47537-671-670, Nut 47522-594-000, Equalizer pin 47365-538-000, Equalizer 47360-SB2-000

*If you use the J32A2 from the Auto you will need these parts (all from the CLs-6)

Front cam pulley 14260-PGE-A11
Front plate assembly (behind cam pulley) 11860-PGE-A10
Timing belt pulley(lower) 13621-PGE-A11
Crank shaft sensor 37500-PGE-A11 (this little shit costs $500.00)
Subharness for CKP 37501-PGE-A10
TDC Sensors (Qty 2) 37840-PGE-A11
TDC SUB HARNESS 37841-PGE-A10

If you dont already have the Type-s you will want the IMRC 37850-PGE-A01

Brake/Gas pedal assembly from either the accord or CLs-6. (i modified mine)
If you decide to buy it new BRAKE PEDAL ASSY 46600-S3M-A51

Clutch pedal. (this can be from a few cars, i took mine from a 90s civic. it was almost a direct bolt in.
It uses 3 points to bolt in only 2 lined up. I modified a bolt and shim to make it bolt up in the 3rd spot)

If you decide to buy it new you will need the pedal and mount CLUTCH PEDAL 46910-S3M-A01 & CLUTCH PEDAL BRACKET 46990-S84-A01
MASTER CYLINDER ASSY 46922-S3M-A01 & Clutch Fluid Tank 46965-S5A-013, & Clutch Hose 46961-S3M-A02
(i used the one from the civic i pulled the clutch pedal out of)

Things im not sure if you will need but i bought.

Relay box assembly (under hood) 38250-S3M-A21
Shift Boot 83414-S3M-A01ZA
Shift Knob 54102-SL0-023ZB

If you have a header you will either have to have the XS header or COmptech header for the manual. Other wise it wont fit
You will be able to reuse the stock manifolds

If you already ahve a Type-s you MAY Not need these????
Right side cabin to engine comp harness 32100-S3M-A12
Left side cabin to engine comp harness 32120-S3M-A20

I Would attempt with out (that i bought and used with out trying without first) It will make not having to do all the rewiring of
that i did.
Upper instrument harness 32117-S3M-A31
Lower dash harness 32150-S3M-A32

^ There's actually been a conversion done over in Oregon.. I've been getting parts from that car which was wrecked completely.

Kris.. I got my compressor and tools... they were all on clearance for $145.. so I got everything I need to not bust a sweat. I'll start posting pics. it'll be a slow process.. It'll take me about a month or so to finish
