6 speed in 2002
i just got my issue of motor trend in the mail, and on pp.25 it says; "Acura confirms it will offer a six speed manual gearbox in the '02 CL Type S beginning this fall. A six speed for the TL type-S should follow by fall of 2002. Can a manual gearbox for the next-generation Honda Accord V-6 ('03) be far behind?"
Yeah, the CL is a done deal from what I've been hearing. Acura hasn't commited to the TL though, they're not sure that the 6spd will sell enough in the TL to make it worth the money it'll cost them to put it in there. Remember just because they've developed it for the CL doesn't mean that they can just slap it in, they'll no doubt have some modifications the assembly line to encorporate it (it's not just as simple as putting the tranny in, they'll have to change out other items, although they would be the same as the CL they still gotta make changes). I'd say the TL has a better than 50/50 shot of getting the 6spd in the fall of 2002.
why not??? It's the same engine, same mountings, same tranny. We will have to wait to see what RAdams has to say!!!!!
