k, well instead of a pvc cap, i bought a "plumbqwik qwik cap" which was a 3" diameter rubber cap with a tensioning metal belt and put it on the intake and there is no sound at all, or just so little that i don't hear it. But when im in WOT, my car seriously sounds like it will eat little children. I believe i have found the solution.
the part number is PQC-103, SKEW is 1857800050 and i got it at home depot.

I finally found the time to try this mod yesterday and man was it a disappointment As soon as I put it on I took it off because that humming noise was just too much. I have to agree fsttsym1 on this one I think that its the way the intake arm is constructed that is making the air in the tube vibrate. Right before the resonator there are slits in the tubing which break up the air so that It will flow into the resonator.

I wonder why different people seem to get more of a "hum" than others. Installation of whatever you are using to plug the whole probably contributes but maybe different people can just hear it better and it annoys them more than others.

Its not in the tube but in the intake itself. Even with a metal CAI you can here it. Its slight but there. People have tried all sorts of things there. Even a hockey puck. They all did it. I do believe the TL-P causes more of a hum though.

hmm thats strange.. well what I did was installed the quick cap and a drop in K&n air filter at the same time. From outside of the car the humming sound was just as loud the radiator fan maybe even louder! When I touched the quick cap you could feel a vibration and the more I applied pressure to it, the quieter the humming became.

Just go out and try it. Its a 15 min mod. If you dont like it put it back to the way it was.

When removing the larger resonator behind the bumper, is there any need to plug that hole or do any other fixes other than just taking it off?

For those with the humming sound have you tried putting a piece of sound deadening material ex. Dynamat on it to suppress it?

Hum is coming from the IACV, Unplug it and the hum will stop.
