2002 Moonroof

Just wondering if anyone else has had a problem with their moonroof. Just picked up my Type-S 2 days ago and the moonroof sqeaks constantly while I am driving!! No big deal, but just wondring if its a common problem.

Lightbulb re: Moonroof

This was a big issue with the CL-S when it came out. If you bring it back to the dealer, they'll probably re-lube the moonroof and you should be fine!!

Lubricating the seal is no longer a valid repair. Advise the dealer to perform the repair on Service Bulletin 00-032. The bulletin will instruct the dealer to clean seal and apply "sqeak reduction" tape around the moonroof opening.

Could these steps be done while the cars were built. I am wondering if those ones that were built recently have experienced the same kind of problem. Need help from the newest TL-S owner.

The problem doesn't seem to affect all vehicles. My Accord V6 coupe suffered from this, but my '02 TL-S doesn't.

I notice a lot of rattling from my moonroof when it is closed. If I push on it when it is closed I can even move it up a bit. I'm gonna mention this to Park Ave Acura when I get my next oil change.

I have a VIN#18,000+ TLS. When I picked up the car, the Acura service rep was there and he told me Acura changed the materials used for the sunroof seals to reduce the squeaks. I don't know if he was telling the truth, but he seemed to know what he was talking about...

Cool

I got mine at the end of March and, fortunately, I don't have any of the rattles or squeaks that others have reported in the roof, seats, etc. Just lucky I guess

I don't know if it's the same problem, but my '00 TL developed a squeak with the moonroof at around 15k miles. It only happened when the cover was open, and when I went in for my 15k mile service, they said they had a tech bulletin on it and they fixed the problem. I don't know if the fix was a permanent solution or not, because I traded it in on my TLS 2 months later, but it was quiet as long as I had the car.

My point is, if it's the same problem, it could pop up in the future. Most of us only have a few thousand miles on our cars, so we don't know yet if this problem has really been corrected.

So far no rattles from the moonroof (approx. 1600 miles).
