2002 Camry vs 2002 TL

went car shopping last night with my relative. I am amzed how expansive Camry has become (at least from MSRP).

Test drove the new 2002 camry. The inside materials is much better than 97-01 models. The car is significantly bigger inside ( much more room than TL). The head room is just amazing. But the price is also amazing.

2002 Camry SE V6 + package 5 (6 disc in-dash, moon roof, ABS, DVD nav, no leather)+ package 7 (vehicle skid control, side airbag and head curtain bag)= MSRP $29,000 invoice= $25,534.

Compare to 2002 TL (which does not have VSC and curtain bag) MSRP $31,360. TL is a a much better buy since you can negotiate on TL now.

With 29K sticker price even TLS is not far from it.

What is toyota thinking a $29K camry???

BTW, since its a new car, no room to negotiate.

DAMN.... Never would imagine that a camry would get soo high.... if you decide to get a camry you would better off with the ES300 + options. however i still think the TL is a better Deal...

It is because the 2002 Camry just roll out. No one will buy a Camry in the MSRP range. Let the excitement cool down then you'll be able to get it $500 over inovice.

The new ES is still in the low to mid 30Ks but it is NOT an attractive car. It is in this months car and driver, not sure what Lexus was thinking. The headlights are pulled up and back on the hood.

The scary part is everyone will continue to buy the camry even though its close to 29k, it's been one of the top selling cars for years now, my bro just bought one, and I almost smacked him... but to each their own i guess?

your only payin a G or two and you have a navi option from the TL price in the Cam.. man i'm taking the TL with the nav option for 2 G's more they can keep the Cam its a little dumb to shell it out for the Cam when the options arn't that great.

The problem is that this is not top of line Camry. Camry XLE with leather will top $31k.

4000 is number of people that agilent will put onto the street

$29K V6SE Camry???? Well I think it's not that bad..... becuase me and my relatives went to look at the Camry the past weekend, they dun care about power, so we looked at Camry I4SE, it has power everything, roof, 16" rims, and some kind of stupid seal paint, and with tax and everything was $28900 drive out.... for a 4 cycliner Camry!!!!!!!! And I asked the salesman, would he pay $29 for a 4 cycliner Camry, which he can get a TL for the same price, and guess wat he said..... "I know it's expensive, and theres nothing I can do about it, thats why I am driving a 02 TLS" I was like, haha, cool! Toyota had been famous of crazy prices, and their qualities had been going downhill, cuz I used to had a 92 Camry, the qualities on those are WAY better.....

Camry = overpriced and underpowered (3.0 V6 engine w/o VVT-i and only 192hp)
That things is goin' to be murdered by everything on the street (0-6 in 8.3 or 8.6 seconds) including my 2000 V6 Accord!
