2001 3.2TL headlight issue - delaying

Hi,
After I turn on the headlight switch, driver side headlight on immediately, but passenger side will turn on around 10 minutes later. I heard that it might be the Hid bulb worn out, not sure whether I should buy a new HID bulb and try to replace it? The bulb is over $200 which is expensive.

Thanks for any suggestion.

Get aftermarket ones and check
D2R Morimoto XB HID Bulbs - Xenon Headlight Bulbs - The Retrofit Source
My bet is it's not even the bulb and more likely the ignitor/ballast.

IN which case, also get aftermarket: D2S: Morimoto Elite HID System - HID Systems from The Retrofit Source Inc

Test out the working bulb in the non working headlight. If it does the same thing, then it is probably the ballast or even a relay somewhere down the line. You can always buy morimoto hid bulbs from the retrofitsource for 50$ if it is the bulb

I think you might be right. I swapped driver and passenger side headlight today, same problem.

I tried to keep the engine running for 10-15 minutes with both headlights off, then turn the headlight switch on, both headlights on immediately.

Looks like some part needs warn-up.

Not sure replace what portion first.

Thanks for any idea.

It could also just be a HL relay. Try swapping those too.

I am selling the following if you are interested. Originally purchased for my 2002 TL but never installed.

Should be the igniter, I'd check in TRS's close out section for replacement ballest or opt out for a complete kit

junk the stock parts and get an aftermarket kit from moritmoto - those are high end $
or HIDeXtra | HID, LED, Xenon Vehicle Headlight Kits & Bulbs where 60 bucks gets 2 of everything!!! ballast- ignitors and bulbs. Many of us on that system

35 watt ballast and 5000K color bulbs will fix you up right
the OE system is over a decade in use and technology has advanced greatly!
