Haha bluedragon will back me up on this...if he was on a highway that was nothing...hell if he was anywhere but a neighborhood it was nothing. He's in Atlanta (my old hometown). And bluedragon tell me if I'm not right...you get on 285...the speed limit is 55, and I'll be damned if I can find a single person going under 70 on that highway. But I will say bud...106 in a 55 (you WERE on a highway weren't you? Don't tell it was 285)...I'm surprised they didn't haul you in. Friend of mine was hauled in for doing 105 in a 45.

Oh and let me say this now...those of you that will read this thread and say omg this kid was going 106 in a 55? Let me flame him. I swear I will never let you hear the end of it. I don't want to see a single flame in this thread.

IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING GOOD TO SAY (ADVICE, CONSOLATION) THEN SHUT THE HELL UP. I AM SERIOUS. Flaming him isn't going to do him any good so the crap about "oh well it's for his own good, he needs to be reprimanded etc" don't give me that. He's not listening to you. So don't waste space on the thread.

I mean it's standard practice on atlanta highways. Hell they only have the speed limit of 55 because it's state mandated.

Wonder if they would treat you the same (just a ticket, not jail) if you weren't white?

One Question: HOW MUCH WAS THE FVCKING TICKET?? HOLY $HIT!!
My buddy in class just got pulled over doing 80-something in a 55 and the state trooper handed his a$$ a ticket for $230.

Some of those contructions zones are great...concrete barriers so u dont have to worry about ppl crossing the median and hitting you...everyone else drives real slow..and usually at night...there is no one around...

I will have to agree...if I was his mother I'd have beat the **** out of him now and hung him up outside. The point is that I'm not, so whether I approve or not it won't help anything either way if I ***** bluedragon out. I will have to say I didn't read the construction thing...dude I hope this was late at night when none of the workers were out...if there were workers present I take the same stance I do when people speed in school zones, neighborhoods etc...which is a big f*ck you...but hopefully this wasn't the case.

By the way...how much WAS the ticket?!?!

Ha ha ha ha I knew it! Oh man. The speed limit should be like 85 on that highway...I swear, stupid state mandate. Yeah dude, you should know after living in Atlanta never ever speed in contruction zones...they get you there...that's where they always hide. That's how it was during the Olympics too. How old are you? Sounds like you haven't been driving too long...

Do you know anyone who ever went to jail for speeding? One of my friends got caught in upstate NY going 90 in a 65 zone, which is not a reckless driving rap, but since he was from Toronto he figured he could blow off all the other tickets he had gotten in NY and was nailed for driving with a suspended license. He spent the night in some sh!tty small town jail (he got caught at 2 am and was far from both Toronto and NY, so it took time to rescue him) and he got beaten up by a cop and then later on by a wino.

Another friend went to jail, also for driving with a suspended license (tons of parking tickets) for making an illegal U-Turn. This guy is in med school and said he spent the whole night in his cell in downtown Manhattan with 30 guys, mostly drunks, pimps and crack addicts, basically scared out of his mind.

Lesson learned: Pay your damn tickets!

In the above post you did everything you said not to do. You're post is a flame and it's wasted space. You didn't say anything positive and telling everyone to shut the hell up is not going to stop them from stating their point of view. They are not listening to you. You might want to consider other people's point of view. You don't have to agree with it but it's their right.

I would beg to differ, and then let me point something out to you. First, my post was a warning...hopefully one that kept away flames and people from just wanting to b*tch this guy out. And so far so good. I didn't say anything positive in that one post you're right, why? Because that wasn't my only post (geez are you blind?) I didn't tell everyone to shut the hell up either, I told the people who are only going to post to flame him to shut up, and no it won't stop them from stating their point of view, but hopefully it will help stop them.

Oh and my post wasn't a flame. Maybe you need to go look that up. If it was a flame I would be criticizing this guy. Flames are flames because you post on someone's thread to flame them, or you reply to some who posted flaming them. Neither of these were the case.

However, all that said, your post was a flame...because it was criticizing me and didn't do anyone any good. In addition to that, your post didn't even have anything to do with the topic, the topic being this guy getting a speeding ticket. That's pathetic...and I want to personally congratulate you on being now the fourth winner of Austin's Prize STFU award...only 3 have earned this hard to earn prize before you, congratulations.

Amen man, amen.

Would it be too personal to ask who the 3 previous winner were?

I don't know the fine structure for GA, but in MA that would be a $585 ticket. Lucky for you lead-footers in MA, speed alone does not constitute reckless driving.

Blue, I hope you grow out of your "speed phase" soon. At least you weren't doing what you did during rush hour or normal business hours. Good luck with the repercussions.

Austin, I believe that people should be allowed to freely comment on his incident. Blue explained his situation in some detail and then asked a question or two. If he didn't want/expect some feedback on his experience, he could have simply asked the questions.

Do I think his actions are irresponsible? Yes. Have I done the same thing or something similar? Yes. In most cases, breaking a law is not ok. In a lot of cases, it is understandable.

If you choose to break a law, take responsibility for your actions, i.e. take your lumps like a man. Don't go blaming or badmouthing cops because they happened to catch you doing something wrong.

exemptplt, I AGREE THE COP CAUGHT ME FAIR & SQUARE, HE OFFERED TO TEST OR SHOW ME HIS RADAR,BUT I KNOW I WAS SPEEDING & DIDN'T BOTHER TO WASTE HIS TIME OR MINE & I WILL PAY THE TKT & NOT TRY YO FIGHT IT IN COURT. I'M A BIG OF ENOUGH MAN TO ADMIT I WAS WRONG, I JUST WANTED TEST MY NEW CAR OUT & SEE HOW WELL IT HANDLED @FAST SPEEDS, BUT I GOT CAUGHT, WHAT CAN I SAY BUT HEY, I'M NOT INVINSIBLE ANYMORE, I HAVEN'T GOTTEN A SPEEDING TKT IN 2YRS & HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A SPEED DEMON:devil:

First I do want to say, although I don't own this forum...it is owned. Freedom of speech goes out the window right there...there is no Constitution, Tim owns this forum, period.

But that doesn't really deal with this. My point exemptplt, if you'll go look up threads about people getting speeding tickets, instead of people saying "that sucks man" or "yeah good luck" you usually get people who just sit there and badmouth them. That's not constructive or helpful in any way, and that is what this forum is here for. If you want to badmouth people then go over to the h/a forums or accord forums, but don't do it here. This place was created to be a resource, says Tim, and as such you're not adding to the resource by making a guy feel worse than he prolly already does. Especially if your criticism won't help him in any way, which it won't.

I don't think he's innocent either...heh he's VERY guilty, and no bluedragon shouldn't be b*tching about the cops...it's just a normal reaction though.

Instead of sitting here though telling him what he did was wrong (obvious) why not go answer someone's questions on the forum? That's more helpful, and that's my point.

I don't know what else will come out of this thread. I was tempted to move it to off-topic since it has moved from a speeding ticket/advice thread to a "what I can and cannot say on this forum" sort of deal. However, I do not believe that any other positive post will come of this thread, so I will lock it.
