Do you guys put it in D, or do you use sportshift when drag racing? It seems like D would make the most sense because it wonthit the rev limiter. But in D, it will shift at the redline, while in sportshift you can shift at a lower rpm to keep the engine more in its powerband, since theres no point in reving it all the way out if you can shift and accelerate harder at lower rpm.

I disagree. Start out in D2 and shift to D3. You will take off slower in D3 than in D2. I know its bad to gate shift but if you do it every know and then when you dragging it wont hurt. You won't have to go into 4th in a 1/4. You should be able to hit 110 to 115 in 3rd...

Guys guys guys.

This has been discussed so many times I can't even count them.

The fact is that leaving it in D3, D4 or D5 have always produced the slower times.

The best times have consistently been produced by using the shiftgate mode.

Numerous runs at the track and against other cars, including several Type-S's to prove this out. Time slips don't lie. There were doubting Thomases at the track who stuck with the Auto mode. After getting whipped every race, they finally switched. Guess What !! Everyone of their times improved and they are now running with the shiftgate crowd.

I dunno, I usually run in SportShift mode and my times are pretty comparable with what everyone else gets (bone stock - 15.022 is my best time, and that included a ~30mph headwind going against us at the track).. announcer said that the times should be cut by about 0.5-0.3 seconds without the wind, so I figure I could have gotten ~14.7 or so ... that puts me right in line with the magazines.
