your tranny is going chief!
if under warranty take it to the Ac dealer
if not, you gotz to shell out the funds for a new tranny.

i just had that same thing last month and my car is in the shop ever since.

My recommendation is to bring it in and get a 2nd opinion to see what is exactly wrong

Acura 2006 TL tranny

well my case was like this ,. Hope it helps someone.
2006 t/l . Bought brand new by me. 88,000 mile. a/t
transmission was randomly slipping.

Then one day it was having trouble shifting. it seem to get into 2nd or 3 rd gear. got worse as it warmed up.
Had it towed to a trusted shop that only works on Acura/Honda.
P0740 code came up when the tech test drove my car.But not until then
I have maintained the car well.

Need new trans and two motor mounts.... errr
rebuilt trans from Acura for $3125.00 in Sacramento , CA
given a 3 yr / unlimited mile warranty.

A hit to the C/C but car is paid off.

tranny issues.....

So hey Rouse1965, an '06 TL bought new and "well serviced".......just being curious, what was your tranny's PM work performed on the car while ya owned it ?

Did ya have regular tranny drain & fills using Honda fluid or replace the inline ATf filter ???

What was the main part that failed......did the shop tell ya ?

I have been getting that code p0740 as well, but I've read elsewhere that if I replace the lock up solenoid or clean the lock up solenoid and linear assembly I shld be fine. has anyone ever clean the linear solenoid?

I see a couple of videos already on cleaning the lock up shift solenoid.

You can try, but many have taken that route here with no results. In all honesty you're wasting your time. That code means the damage is already done. Cleaning the screens or replacing the solenoid only gives clutch material and debris an opportunity to clog something else up.

Yeah, too little ....too late.
Ya could try checking the ATF fluid's level and condition for shit and giggles.
If the fluid is dark and smells burnt, it may be time for an "AV6" donor replacement.

Rebuild, added a new case and bearings for the shafts too.... along with the cooler and the lifetime warranty comes with. He quoted $1200 but called and went up to $1800 when he discovered the main case and bearings were gone. Was good enough to call and let me come by and see for myself too. He ususally never goes up on a quote but had no choice this time. He's kinda known for doing these transmissions in this part of bama.
