$1000 antenna???

Hi. My uncle has an 03 Tl-Type S. His radio stopped working so he took it to the Acura dealership where they told him that it would cost him $1000 to fix because they would have to replace his rear window with new de-foggers and antennas. He bought the care certified used about seven months ago. It has a bumper to bumper warranty. I told him to fight it, seeing as how the car is under warranty and he just bought a MDX from them. What do you think???

if the antenna is broken it should be covered under the extended warranty if he has it already. to charge $1000 to replace it is ridiculous. i'm not sure if a broken radio is a direct connection to the antenna either...

what exactly is being replaced and why. i know you made a little description but that is not sufficient enough to figure the solution.

Ok....thanks for the quick replies. His CD changer wasnt working right, so they replaced his head unit. He said the radio just doesnt work and then Joe Rizza(the Acura dealer he goes to) said they would have to replace his back window because it might be the de foggers interfering with the antenna. He said his radio just doesnt work, as im guessing he doesnt get reception. I can ask him tomorrow to tell me exactly what happens when he tries to listen. Thanks again for the quick replies!!!!

That is rediculous. tell them if it is defogger interference, then fix the problem.

Probably a frayed wire somewhere between the antennae and radio. $1000, no way! Especially if it's under warranty.
