Question Replacement Shocks

I need to replace my shocks and I cannot find Bilsteins to replace the OEMs. Are there any high performance shocks available for the RL?

i have a set of relatively new OEM shocks and springs from an 08 RL. When we got the car it had the stock suspension on it, but before we took delivery of the car we had the A-Spec suspension installed. If you're interested let me know, if that is something you'd want to do.

theres the TEIN ones imported from japan (availabe at visionaryracing.com), the A-spec ones and the stock ones.

I think A-spec is the cheapest, but the TEIN ones are amazing, great drop, great ride and also adjustability.

heres the link to the teins

Thanks for the information. I don't want to replace the springs or go to the A-spec set up because I like the ride just the way it is. I am just hoping for a better quality shock that will preserve the OEM ride. Why are the major shock manufacturers ignoring the RL? Are the numbers that low or the suspension that different?

I will +1 the Teins as you can adjust them to maintain your favored ride--it can be adjusted from soft to hard, however you like.

The only reason manufactures ignore the RL is because of volume. We have an uncommon (not rare, just uncommon) car.

How about aftermarket struts for the RL. I just ordered some H&R springs but can not find a set of struts. Anybody know where to find em?

here is where you get screwed ownining and trying to mod an RL. if you had a Civic or RSX or some other generic rice burner - they would be making parts like crazy.

how many modded RLs do you see on the road? heck, how many RLs do you see on the road period!!! hardly any!

so good luck getting aftermarket manufacturers to make parts for these cars.

too bad koni doesn't make a set of their yellow shocks for the RL. any chance that there is some other model Acura that uses the samshock as the RL? like any chance the MDX shares a shock design..so you could get the aftermarket shocks from THAT car..

or is the RL shock totally unique to the RL?

if so - you are stuck with stock or aspec. or spend $$$ and get TEIN.
