Thanks everyone . Since tomorrow is July 4th, I won't have the rims till the 5th. I'll be test fitting them 1st b4 I order the tires. So hopefully sometime late next week they'll be on.

Adjusted the dampening to 8 today, wow I love it, the car feels very planted. I can't believe how nice these tein's are

These sound great! I have some operational questions for you that may be of interest to others?

Do you think they will work with PAX?

With the much heavier wheel asembly, would you use more or less dampening?

How hard is it to adjust? Take each wheel off, and some kind of click adjustment?

How do you adjust ride height? Via the springs or dampers or both?

Is the ride much worse? I also have a wife acceptance factor to work with. Supple, firm ride, a la BMW is OK, but a more go kart like ride is definitely a no no.

Thanks!

Chas2, great questions.

1. I think they should, LS-Silver in Japan has a PAX car and he is using the Tein suspension like me. I can shoot him a email to confirm if you want, just lmk .

2. Actually my new wheels are quite a bit lighter than stock, so I can't say yet how that will affect my current tuning. I still have more fine tuning to do, it's actually fun being able to control the ride and handling properties.

3. There are two ways you can adjust them - a) use the knob on top of the strut to change the dampening. b) use the tein edfc (something I will get), which allows you to change the settings electronically by just hitting a button on the tein controller. It also can store your favorite settings.

4. Height is adjusted by the spring perch's. You use the supplied wrench's to move the collar up or down and that will change the height.

5. Right now with my 8 setting I would say it's about 25% firmer than stock. The nice thing is you can adjust the dampening in 2 secs with the edfc. So let's say you are gonna be driving through a twisty mountain you can use 4 and then with just one push of the button in 2 seconds be back at a cushioney 12. Also you can adjust each shock to it's own setting, so if you wanted you can run 4 in front and 6 in the back. You have complete control.

That would be awesome. Could you please confirm whether the Tein work with the PAX?

Chas2, actually JDM Legends I just found out do not have Pax. It was never offered there. I just assumed there tech packaged was like ours. However good news, I checked online and the part # for the rear lower/upper perch (see#10,15) for the spring is identical on both tech and non-tech models. Furthermore the shock mounting bushing on the lower shock is the same also (item #9). As is the top hat (#16). So basically it's the tuning of the shock and spring that is different between the tech and non-tech cars.

Thank you very much.

This is similar information to what the dealer and I did on line. The adjustable spring and shock makes the most sense in the case of PAX.

I need to find a competent installer here before I jump on this.

I just thought of something else. Lowering the car does WHAT to the ACC/CMBS radar? Is this adjustable?

Touge,

Do you know people in Japan who have done this, and have the ACC/CMBS?

Thanks!

Well finally after waiting 3 months, one of the most important items arrived today, the wheels!. As some of you know choosing a wheel for this car is quite hard due to the big calipers and unusual bolt pattern. That combined with our desire to have a lightweight yet unique wheel made the choice extremely hard.

Without further adieu we present you the AME FS-01 Concept in Hyper Silver. This wheel was introduced in Japan back in April and this is the 1st RL set in the US. The design is aggressive and yet clean. It goes nicely with our sporty vip look. In 19" they only weigh 22 lb (5 lb lighter than the original 17"). These wheels are produced by Enkei Japan and use MAT Technology to achieve this weight and extreme strength. Hope you like them (center cap shown not mounted) -

Are you planning to modify the center cap, Touge?

I've been thinking about it with the ASA JH9's on Tirerack... I kinda like the metal spoke, black wheel with a metallic lip. I checked the parts for the RL and you can buy just the centercaps on the OEM wheel. The Acura symbol (calipers) can be removed and then if it fits, attached to an existing center cap (maybe paint the cap silver if you can't remove any existing logos). I believe you have to drill 2 holes on the cap for the studs behind the Acura emblem.

If you want to keep the Acura logo on the car, that would probably look sick with a little bit of clean handywork.

jjtags, no I actually prefer the new center cap over the acura one. It has a much more expensive look in my opinion and features a really nice brushed black aluminum finish. Here is a close up (cap is not installed in pic) -

Thanks .

Slawomir, I'm not sure actually what size I want yet, it's either - 255/35/19, 265/35/19 or 255/40/19. For brand I've had good luck with the Toyo T1R in the past, but recently have heard good things about the Falken 452's and Nitto Invo.

I hope my tire choice doesn't take as long as the wheels... I kid I kid, I know everyone wants them on asap =).

Good choice Those are the tires that I run. Very sticky, very quiet, very smooth. Hopefully you like them as much as I do. Oh, and those wheels, beautiful.

wow, So I've heard of AME wheels and i rarely hear anybody talk about them.. So these were the one's the guy was telling me about. He was stressing me to get a set of these instead of the Bronze volks that I had just ordered since he said he can get me a really good deal on them.. So out of curiosity, how much did these wheels run you?? and the "forged" lug nuts??

Anywho, can't wait to see them on the ride bro, i'm sure it'll be sweet

watch those open lugs, the bolts will more than likely rust and make it difficult to remove the nuts without damaging them a little. Toyos grip better than Falken 452's.

i would wager that the RL wheel studs are coated from the factory so they do not rust... and if they don't, this problem can easily be solved. take a wire brush to the lugs, and give them a quick spray of anti-rust paint.

Talking

Ok I installed the wheels and tires today!. The RL wheel studs do have a coating as CleanCL notes. Total weight savings from the lugs are 2.6 lb vs stock

Didn't get to drive much, but early impressions are wonderful. The tires are extremely quiet and grip levels are very impressive. The car feels alot more nimble and it's very easy to make evo 9 like direction changes now .

Acceleration has also improved. The car's final drive ratio based on some calculations I did is now 4.6:1 (stock is 4.5:1) due to the smaller rolling diameter.

Overall I'm extremely happy. One of the best mods I think to date. Pictures to follow once I wash the car for hin.
