my RL has a free promotion from XM with traffic and XM until june 5. has any one have the same. I wish XM will drop there prices for yearly service so we do not need a script!

Check the fine print - once you sign-up for the free promo, you must call to cancel before the end date or they will charge you for the on-going service!

 

I didn't sign up for any promo. It got enabled on my XM. They don't have any of my info. And the message on the navi said it runs till 6/7/2010.

 

And you don't think they know who you are from your XM radio ID??!!

 

Nope, I am a second owner. Unless Acura reports second owners, I am unknown to XM.

 

at $77/year I think the XM is affordable enough to use. It helps that I get free traffic from them due to a cancellation request that didn't exactly go through.

 

I too got the free week of service which i wanted to try out before purchasing because they are offering a 5 month promo after the week free for $19.99 and i was interested in seeing how the traffic worked with the nav but mine doesnt seem to be anything different from when the XM wasnt hooked up. What is the difference with and without XM hooked up as i thought i was suppose to get real time traffic and items like this. Im i wrong?

 

Try zooming out to traffic range and you shell see the traffic info and/or warnings of road construction/accidents.

 

You also have to turn the Traffic Icons on. The traffic icons are like any other (e.g., ATM, Gas Station, etc) may be turned off, in which case you will not see traffic even if you have it. You also have to be in a marketplace served by traffic.

 

We received this in both of our cars - 2008 RDX and 2009 Nissan GT-R. I have audio service in the GT-R but turned off traffic nearly two years ago since (a) it's garbage/useless, and (b) Google Maps is free.

 

i have basic XM and now I'm getting the traffic for free.. i never asked for it.

I have told a couple other Acura owners about the $20 deal and they both signed up.. that's a good deal.. at least for people who want to just try it out...

i agree the traffic is of limited usefulness. especially if you don't live in areas where traffic is a major problem. mine just always shows green... and if it ever was red...there's no way for me to really go around it... at most i'd just know to get off the roa dand stop at starbucks for while..
