I recently swapped out my 2008 radio and clock display with 2010 MMC versions, and so far they work fine. The top display even gains the RDS radio text - I can see what piece is playing for FM if the station supports RDS. However, in the main screen, the AM/FM display is essentially blank. I attribute this to the older software in the navigation unit that doesn't support RDS data/API. Looking at user manual for 2009+ RL I see they have a bunch of new RDS functions in AM/FM section for filtering, displaying text, etc. I'm wondering if it's possible to update just the navi system software (and keeping the Navi unit the same) with the navi software for 2009+ RL. Has anyone attempted this already to see if that's doable? Thank you.
