I installed Navi 4.63 and noticed that Software Version (in the System Information screen) bumped from 1.64.00 to 1.66.00. Probably a bugfix release sent to those having trouble with 4.62

i was previously running 4.31 from last saturday
and 4.13 a week ago

No, it is only available from dealers. I torrented it as well due to awful service from Alpine. 4.64 is supposedly coming for legal purchase in the next few weeks, according to a poster in another thread.

Yeah, right. Alpine has been saying that it's available soon for almost a year. If they release it to consumers, I'll buy it. If they continue to jerk Acura owners around, I'll torrent it again.

 

Failure going from 4.13b to 4.63. It just keeps going to the Acura logo screen with the earth, and going blank and just keeps repeating that. I can't get into the diagnostics menu or anything.

I'm hoping to borrow a white disc from a friend who has an 06 TL w/ Navi but i'm not sure what color or version disc he has. needless to say i'm not very happy right now

does anyone have an old 4.55 or 4.31 disc that they would like to sell? lol I'm so annoyed at this point...

 

Orange disc so I'm SOL at the moment... at least I still have my 4.13b disc.

You can get a 4.56 disc from Alpine - works in the '05 RL updating from 4.13

 

did you burn the 4.63 disc yourself? what did you use? that may be the problem.
i ended up having to use a desktop to burn mine after the laptop's combo drive made 3 coasters. remember to use the lowest burn speed as well. I used Nero Express successfully on mine.

4.63 works great and actually loads quicker in comparison to the other versions i've had.

 

I got the official white Disc for 4.63. It isn't a burned copy. I think my issue is trying to upgrade from 4.13b. It recognizes the disc when I put it in, but for some reason just keeps rebooting to the acura logo and earth screen... not the same as the in-line diagnostic screen.

 

You can go back to a previous version so at least your original disc will work. Just press the thee buttons Map/Guide, Menu, and Cancel and hold for about 5 sec., at the menu select Version then download the old version.

then to 4.63
try resetting and trying the 4.63 again.

 

I think what you did here is the right way to go. No matter what I do I can't get it to work from 4.13 to 4.63... as soon as i put in the dvd for 4.13, it works fine and recognizes the old disc. As soon as i put in the 4.63 disc, it goes into that infinite reboot.

ok, so the same thing just happened to me....wish i had seen this thread before i purchased my 4.63 DVD from eBay the other day.....

i have a 2005 RL w/4.13b that has never been upgraded and sure enough, i get the endless reboot when i insert the 4.63 DVD and if i reinsert the 4.13 DVD, all is well.

so, i think we need a community v4.31 or v4.55 for us to pass around so we can all get this to work

the whole point of my purchasing it on eBay was the ridiculous $185 price tag Alpine charges.....there was no way i was spending that much.....and i will completely defeat the whole purpose of it if i go and purchase an old version just to use it for 5 seconds....

i just purchased my 2005 RL in December 2007 as a CPO.....as far as im concerned, i think it is ridiculous that the CPO checklist does NOT include the latest upgrade DVD for the Navi......

I was able to upgrade to 4.31 and then to 4.63 with no issue. All of my addresses and everythign i entered was retained. Needless to say 4.63 is much better looking than 4.13.

I purchased the 4.62 off Ebay in the hopes of upgrading from the 4.13 I was running. Upon its arrival I ran right out to install it only to get the endless reboot.

Seeing these posts I went searching for a 4.31 or 4.55. After visiting two Acura dealerships and hitting roadblocks at every turn I finally found a decent Pre-Owned sales guy willing to give me ten minutes of his time to eject a 4.31 disk out of an 06 MDX and allow me to install it in my 05RL. The process took all of three minutes. Once 4.31 was in I had no trouble bumping up to 4.62.

Several ppl I ran into at the dealerships including service dept managers were completely opposed to my borrowing their disk.

My copy of 4.62 seems to be working great in my 06 RL

 

It's good to be finally on board. The 4.13b -> 4.31C -> 4.63 upgrade did the trick. Thanks to everyone who contributed to finding this solution for the 2005ers.

 

Logic717, just activated the accoutn and it wont let me private message you, if you could private message me the instructions on how to get the disc to work that would be great. I have disc 4.63 and have no idea what the latest disc installed in my car was, bought it used it came with disc 4.63 and it just reboots like your problem, so hopefully you can help me out that would be awesome!

I see a number of people talking about issues going from 4.13 to 4.63 directly. I used my friends' 463 DVD today and went into endless reboot. On Acura's website, they say 4.64 is the right version for the 2005 RL and that should be available on Sept 10th. If I buy that, will it work drectly on 4.13 or do I still have to go through the intermediate step of 4.31c?

 

also, does anyone know which versions of Acura acually came with the 4.31c DVD? I am trying to see who I can borrow from as an intermediate step before going to 4.63.

 

You can use the Acura navi website to determine which cars came with it. Basically I understand any car that uses the white disc, around the MY 2006 would be a good place to start. The 06 RL came with 4.3 something. I have no idea where my original disk is.

I thought my 4.62 was bad, I've had it for 6 months now. I figured that guy on e-bay got me but it appears that I need the 4.3 or 4.5 dvd before I can load my 4.62 version into my navigation system. So is ther a community dvd someone has that would be willing to help me out with? I'd hate to have to play with some sales guys emotions and test drive a car, take it to my house do the swap and then give the car back and say I'm not interested. Help me out!!!!

Make sure your burner and software supports slower 2x or 2.4x burns. the disc wont work if burned at higher speeds (at higher speeds the clusters will end up at different locations on the disc than the original was).

 

thats a good tip I never thought about...it comes with a ISO and a .bin file...do I put both on there or am I suppose to unpack the .ISO

We just got news that 4.64 from Alpine will do the upgrade from 4.1x or any version in between. That is the official solution for you. $200

Versions in between, 4.62 or ebay 4.63 will not do it consistently if at all, depending on what version you had in there before.
