Replacing 05 Stero Unit

Good afternoon. I need to replace my stereo unit. The part number on the dealer estimate is 39175-SJA-A01. A new unit retails from between $2k - $3k, so I'm hoping and trying to find a used model. However, I have seen very few, if any, used models with that same part number. However, I see other years (06, 07, 08, etc) with similar, but not identical part numbers.

Does anyone understand, or have experience replacing their unit and can explain, the compatibility issues, if any, with using a stereo unit that doesn't match my current part number? Also, is there any information about the different 'models' of stereo units (by part number)?

Thank you

I am pretty sure there are no differences between 2005-2008 that will stop it from being "plug-and-play". I know the 2005-2008 navigation drives all have different part numbers, and they all work with different model year head units. The 2007 tech trim introduced the AUX port, so that is a know feature change. I would assume other part number differences without feature changes would reflect updated firmwares.

I wish I could say with more certainty, but maybe someone with personal experience will chime in.

bump, I am wondering the same thing. I have seen some units that display the mp3/wma icon on the headunits and mine doesnt. Looking to swap out.

There are companies that repair factory car stereos, it's not cheap, but cheaper than buying a new onE! I can't think of the name but when I deliver to my local carmax, I'm always picking up stereos to be shipped to this place in Charlotte, NC that does just that.
