Question Is it the NAV Unit or Display Screen?

2005 RL Navi Display screen just started having trouble. The image spins and scolls when I start up. See attached MOV file.
The splash screen never gets to a static screen but instead scrolls at varying speeds., changing from somewhat slow and jittery to fast spinning.
Controls to map, A/C, etc. change the page and audio works, but every page is spinning.and scrolling, not static or steady. A thick black line scrolls from top to bottom
Any sthoughts on whether the cause of the problem is the display screen or is it the NAV unit in the trunk?
I have cleaned the NAVI DVD and used a DVD cleaning disk. No help.
When the DVD is removed still get the spinning splash screen and other pages.
Before I sport for $350 with Alpine to repair NAVI unit in the trunk, I'd like to be sure the NAV unit is the cause and not the center console display.
The uppper display is fine.
Almost new battery so wouldn;t think it is a voltage issue.
Any idea which component has failed? or any suggestions on how to isolate the source of the problem would be much appreciated.
