96 - Navi System Screen

Hoping there is someone that can help identify the problem with the screen.
The screen went dark about 2 years ago, can't find any particular reason.
Any suggestions or ideas on what could be causing the problem, how to find out, or repair?

Dark like no backlight or it completely stopped working?

You can check the fuses and wiring to make sure it is getting power/acc power/ground.

Try disconnecting/reconnecting the nav unit in the trunk.

There are also self diagnosis you can perform. There are detailed instructions in the service manual. It can be found at pdftown.com.

Search for Acura RL. It should come up. There are also other sites that have it available for download. (google)

Worse comes to worse and you will need a new nav screen. If you do decide to replace, look into upgrading the screen and trunk nav unit to a 2000-03. Theyre dvd basd maps and still get updated.
