LED's Inside: Lose Auto-Dim?

So I'm FINALLY about to pull the trigger on a bunch of new items, including brakes (rotors, pads, SS Lines), HID bulbs (fogs), LED Interior bulbs, and possibly an A-Spec kit if I get this new job I've interviewed 3 times for.

Anyway, If I buy LED bulbs for the interior dome lights, will I lose the auto dim functionality? Also If I DO lose the auto-dim what kind of bulb should I look for to keep it? I'd like to go with a bright white bulb.

China, eBay, no brand. I have bought 2 LEDs from CA with a nice package and all for $10, and I have bought 10 LEDs from China loose in the packaging for $2. They were the same LEDs. Unless you can get a warranty or proof that the bulb was not built in China and has been tested to US reliability standards, I say go with the cheepo Hong Kong bulbs. Otherwise, you will likely be paying someone to buy them from China, repackage them, and resell them for a premium .

Gotcha, thanks, I was thinking eBay but wasn't sure of the quality on some of them. Will do. I'll see what they got. Need to go with white, not blue after seeing some other LEDS Azine guys have installed.

That would be me.

I have not had any of my 10 bulbs/$2 burn out and it's been a year. I figure they are cheap enough and easy enough to replace.

Damn. I'd buy one for sure. I know you probably need at least 50 guys. I don't even think there are 50 guys on the RL forums. I don't understand why the TL ones wouldn't fit...? Door jam too narrow?

None taken. Did you vote in my poll? I assume you would be a "Thumbs down".

Plenty of people have super-white and cool white, but I can't find any pics.

Actually I chose 'whiskers' HAHA. I don't hate it. My old 99 Lexus GS 400 I had blue dome lights (LED wasn't around for vehicle applications then (2001) I don't think). Just kinda grew out of it. Plus now that I have a child, I need something so I can see. =)

I know I looked for pics too. Sick of looking at them on the bimmer forums. Need an RL with WHITE LEDS. Please post your pics.

The cheapest I can find is $5 for 2 bulbs. I apologize if this quote doesn't display correct. Still learning the kinks of the site, and the 1 day rule puts a damper on things

You can honestly search around on eBay and find all kinds of sellers out of China offering LED's. Just make sure you pick one that has a decent feedback rating. I did white LED's for all of my interior and license plate lights using Chinese made LED's. Looks the same as all the fancy V-LED and Super Bright LED bulbs for a fraction of the price. Some of these guys, especially in the TL forum, spend literally hundreds of dollars on LED bulbs from places like V-LED. Total waste of money IMO. Even if you buy cheap bulbs on eBay and they go out in a year you can replace them many times over before you would spend anywhere near what V-LED's cost.

Not sure if this link will do what I want it to, but all I did was search "t10 led" and sort price: lowest first.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_saca...%20led&_sop=15

As for quotes, hitting the quote button is easiest. The code that matters is [ quote ] ... [ /quote ] without spaces. Welcome to the forum.

BTW, t10s will cover all puddle, map, license plate and trunk lights. You will need 10 to do all. The rear dome lights are DE3175s. You need two.
