Blue Interior Lights
Blue Interior Lights
When I bought my LED interior lights, I chose blue ones to match the accent lighting already in the car and the floorboard LEDs. I expected them to be slightly brighter, but I only bought 1 SMD bulbs. Here is a pretty good representation of what they are like. The picture is a little dimmer than in person but not much. They are bright enough to see everything around you but too dim to read anything. I'm NOT asking if you would do it to your RL, but rather, I want to know if it is too ricey/cheap/non-luxury for your taste.

This is a chop of 4 different angles to show the whole interior. My only complaint is the reading part. If my passenger or I need to read something, we can use the vanity lights, but the backseat passengers are screwed. It is definitely aesthetics over function. I only spent $3 on 10 bulbs, so I'm not bothered if I want to change. If I do change, I will likely do a cool white color instead of pure white. I am also not going to change b/c of the poll results; I just want to show an option and gauge the community feeling towards it.
So what do you think, thumbs up or thumbs down?

to me it's too blue.... i would have gone with the more pure white bulbs... they don't look super blue..but they sort of have a bluish tint..
i can't say it looks totally rice.. but if you can't even read stuff... then what's the point in having lights....

You can see everything around you, even what's on the floor. When you are getting in, you can see where you are stepping, sitting, and what to hold onto. I fully expected to be able to read something, but I guess the proximity of wavelength to UV does not allow for contrast off of a white and black page.

Not digging it.
For me, I like the pure white, like the light on the exterior door handles. I recently put in some white LED (~6000k), had some blue in them, on the interior door and looks pretty nice. I wish it was whiter than blue. I'm sure it prob looks cooler in person than pictures.
Just wondering, what kind of LED you got, SMD or regular type? How are they responding to the dimming when closing the door? Planning to replace the dome light soon.

Cool white (6000K) is about as high as i would go with interior lights. Not to mention if you were to get pulled over at night and had to use your interior lights cops might give you some grief about blue lights in the car

Unless I majorly screwed up and am in damage control mode, I make it as hard as possible on them.

You know, I'm not entirely sure. I know it is only a single diode. It is probably a regular type. The dim somewhat. LEDs are not linear like incandescent bulbs, but there is some dimming affect. Someone posted a video here of each bulb side by side dimming. It may have been Carbon(?).
They have flashlights. I have no interest in helping their cause when they pull me over.

Unless I majorly screwed up and am in damage control mode, I make it as hard as possible on them.that's actually a very WRONG way of thinking. Believe me, you DO want to help the cops see in your car at night. I know a LOT of cops - work with a lot of cops... some have told me that when they walk up on cars at night during traffic stops, they actually ALWAys have their guns out.. behind their backs... not aimed at anyone.just ready.. b/c they are all paranoid about getting killed... so when they walk up on your car, and i'ts all dark inside and you go scrambling for a wallet b/c you're nervous, you make THEM nervous.. which is bad. I always turn on all interior lights, roll down all my windows and leave my hands on the wheel.. and make no movements until they ask you to get something. the less nervous they are when they come to your car the better.
, and get pulled over, I will pull over immediately and have my license and insurance ready before the officer gets to my car. I don't talk back or make sudden movements. But if he wants to give me crap, "can I search your car?" etc., screw him. He will need a K-9 and a search warrant. If he has a problem with my interior lights, screw him. He has a flash light. I am not going to modify my car in a way that conforms to a police officer's desires. I have met cool cops who are looking for people wanting to do harm to others and don't bother people like me who aren't harming others. I have met cops that lie to scare people, break the law, and could care less about helping people. The latter I have no interest in helping. I know the laws regarding my car and my rights. I will abide by and protect both.I have rolled all my windows down once... to air the car out.
I ordered blue leds for the doors and right now running cool white for the map and dome light....bright as hell!
I had blue LED interior...I love it! Girls sat in the back and said "they felt like they were in a club" However, I am switching to white to match my under puddle light when I open the doors =( I don't like having too many colors going on in the car....keeping it as simple as possible.
t10 is the same size and is much more common than 168s. Really any wedge bulb could work, but t10s are exact. It's the same bulb for the map lights, trunk lights and license plate lights. The rear dome lights are different, DE3175.
