Iphone 4 wont work with my Acura RL 05

Hey boys can I get some help here....

I have an Acura 05, and I just got the new iphone 4.
My old phone was a blackberry and now when I try to add new phone or sync phone it wont work!

Has anyone had this problem?

From the options menu I hold the key down and say;

"Sync Phone" - no phone has been found

I try to "add phone" - no phone has been found

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Those are not vaid HFL voice commands.

If you do not have your owner's manual or the HFL quick reference guide, the HFL website will give you appropriate instructions based on your RL model, Cell Carrier and Phone Model.

Press the HFL button, then say "Phone Setup", wait for the prompt, then say "Pair", and follow the instructions.

Alternately, RTFM.

My iPhone4 works in my '06. The only thing is that you can't use the "transfer" command until the call is actually connected.

I am having trouble pairing my iphone 4 to my 2005 TL. I already followed all the steps by the different replies on this thread and still no success. My iphone is updated to the
4.3.5 version.

This is what I do:

I go to phone set up. I say pair, I say a number, (1234) my phone finds it and when I go to name it I state a name and the car set up beeps and FAILS. I already deleted the device from my phone, rebooted it it and started again. I must have done this countless of times with no success.

When I first got the car 4 years ago I had an older iphone and it paired perfectly. Now with this new phone I feel like tossing it across the street.

I don't know what else to do.

So you say you state the numbers for your car, but do you type them into the phone too? Does the manual state any steps you aren't doing?

Yeah I type the numbers on my phone and the car immediately recognizes it, but when it asks me to state a name I do it then the pairing process stops. I already consulted the user manual.

Th Bluetooth is enambled and I have it in discovery mode while I'm pairing the phone. My cell phone recognizes the handsfree link but it just won't sink. I never had problems with my old iPhone.

By the way Thanks to all the users for your replies. These forums are very helpful. I hope I can figure out what's going on with my handsfree link.

Have you tried not stating a name? Are you pushing the talk button before you state the name?

When my phone is on discovery mode it says connected. Then When it says "what will you like to call this phone," I then press the talk button and state a name. But as soon as I press the talk button I hear a beep and the whole process is terminated and my cell phone says not connected.

I also tried stating a name before pressing the talk button but it just stays silent and nothing happens.
And after about a minute or two I press the talk button it's over!

Should I state a name before pressing the talk button and just leave the phone until something happens?

No, you will sit forever waiting, and nothing will happen. I guess I misunderstood at first. You are saying you can get the car and phone to pair, but when you try to make a call, it kills the connection? In other words, as long as you don't try to make a call the two will stay paired?

BT streaming did not come along until '09. You can install the Mediabridge like Psheu did and will be able to stream or connect by wire.

I am having the same trouble with my 2006 RL. The iphone4 worked fine for 7 months and suddenly wasn't paired. I tried to pair it and like Chen above, I had the same problem. All is fine until I try to name the phone. Acura says the iphone4 is not compatible with the 2006 RL.

Well, it WAS!! I am getting no help at all from Acura because they are saying that the phone never was compatible and too bad, I should have bought another phone. They say I should buy the newer iphone because that one is "mostly" compatible.

Same issue "Iphone 4 wont work with my Acura RL 05"

Just bought the car. Hope I am doing all the steps correctly.
I followed all the steps from the http://www.acura.com/handsfreelink.aspx

1. I got to the point when it requested 4 digit that I provided and there was a message "searching for phone"

2. After that, as instructions suggest, I turned wifi on, iphone showed "now in discovery mode" and nothing happens after that. HFL times out of course after a minute or more saying that no phone was found.

Any thoughts?

Did you mean you turned bluetooth on and not wifi?

I've found putting the phone in discovery mode doesn't really make it happen. You have to "search for devices".

Iphone has actually only one switch for bluetooth: turn on, and then it starts to search for devices.

I just tried to sync my wife's iphone and it worked! So looks like I have some issues with my iphone bluehtooth module. Will need to check into that. Thanks!

Who is your cell carrier?

You cannot assume any particular model phone works with Acura's HFL without noting the cell phone's carrier.
The iphone 4 is an example with the 2006RL. It is 'Compatible with Most Features' when branded by AT&T, yet the same model is 'Not Compatible' when branded by Verizon. This is clear on the Acura HFL web site.

Carriers modify phone software when branded (locked) to their network. This may affect features the phone may be capable under a different carrier.

Further if you jailbreak or hack a phone, you may add a further variable to feature capability (to the benefit or detriment).

In short, and Apple with AT&T may become an Orange with Verizon. Assume brand X, Model Phone Y is not the same animal, carrier to carrier.

Just got it working! I had to reset phone settings. First I did reset Network settings without any effect. Then I decided to try to reset all settings (without deleting data on the phone of course), and it did the trick!

Now I have another issue but will search for posts on it. After first call iphone shows "Not connected" and turning bluetooth on and off is not helping, but I am glad I was able to pair finally!

By the way, I realized I may have the following issue with HFL. When I press talk button in the middle of the day (it gets pretty hot here in NC) there is no effect and there is no sound. If I try in the morning or in the evening it always work. Nobody experienced this issue?
