Fix Blown Speaker

When I first thought my left tweeter was damaged, turns out the speaker is blown. And boy is it, there's a piece missing!

So I found this video:

Here's my result so far:

I still have to paint it, then test it.

However, I also did get my hands on a speaker from an 05, im not sure why its not working, but the material on it is all intact, no tears no wear.

I do intend to test the repairs I made to see if it's a viable solution, and will report back. But does anyone know if its possible to swap that material onto my speaker?

I'm looking at it, and it seems glued. Unless I may be missing something that someone who tried that may know if we can swap the fabric part?

It's a couple hundred bucks for a new one. These it seems are only made for Acura. they are 2ohms and similar size from other brands are all 4 ohms; lower sound.

It looks bad, but the feel is good. The nail-polish soaking the thin layer of paper does turn it all into one sheet. After painting it should look better.

But if I can somehow swap that part from the other speaker it'd be great!

yeah... i wouldn't pay a couple hundred bucks for a new one either. I'd go aftermarket in that case. Hey if it works, it's covered by a grill, who cares how it looks on the inside..

Wow toilet paper/nail polish repaired speakers!! There should be plenty of 2 ohm mid bass options out there. Anything but that though.

You mean anything but the 2ohms mid bass speakers or anything but the toilet fix?

I'm sticking with the same speaker specs coz the amp may night like the change.

Anything but the toilet paper fix. 2 ohm is fine or you can go 4 ohm with a higher sensitivity rating and get similar results. In my opinion, factory amps can't handle 2 ohm for too long and that's why there are so many posts about failed capacitors on here. Too much heat and a poor design with no real cooling is a doomed endeavor from the get go.
