I have the presets to lock the doors after 10 seconds of staring the car. Let's say for example that I am in my driveway and start the car, realize that I left something in the house, exit the car and shut the door. The door will obviously lock after 10 seconds. Will I be able to unlock the doors upon return?

 

I might be wrong, but I thought the doors only lock once the car has reached a certain minimum speed. In any case, you still would have the FOB and could open the door.

 

I believe the door wouldn't lock.

yes - now that I think about it, once you open the door and leave with the FOB, it "knows" you are out of the car and beeps a warning

I think you're right, the doors lock after a minimum speed has been reached.

 

try putting the key in your trunk and shutting the trunk, same thing happens when the key is in the cabin. Even if the key is in the cabin and the doors were to lock, you just touch the handle and it will open.

 

The doors will not lock when in PARK and the fob is inside the passenger compartment. (unless someone still in the car manually locks the doors).

There is no 10 second delay for auto door lock.

Selectable in the MID will be either when 10mph is reached, shifting out of PARK or no auto door lock (OFF).

From the 2006 RL Manual:

There are three settings you can
choose from:

SHIFT FROM P
The doors lock whenever you move
the shift lever out of Park.
WITH VEH SPD

The doors lock when the vehicle
speed reaches about 10 mph (about
15 km/h).

OFF
The auto door lock is deactivated all
the time.

 

on my cars, 05 tl and 07 rl, I can choose a few different options in the setup. To lock when you go in reverse, lock when you are going like 10mph and lock after putting car in drive.

I don't think there is an option to lock after x seconds .. without being in drive or reverse, which assumes someone is behind the wheel..

 

How do you get the lights to flash to confirm you have locked your door when you get out?

Thanks for this, I'm all set now. I had the settings for lights and beep but didn't realize that there is a master on/off setting as well.
