Question Does XM go to Preview all by itself?

Either I'm losing it or XM occasionally goes to Ch 001-Preview all by itself.

Is this standard operating procedure for XM, or is my receiver acting up? And if they're doing it, I have to say it cheeses me off that they change my channel on me!

Nope - it shouldn't. Sure the car is recognizing your driver # settings?

Mike:

There was an inherent problem with XM earlier today. I called and had them reset my radio. Didn't make a difference. Called them back and was told, "there was a technical glitch in the XM system". Went out about an hour ago, the problem is gone. This is some similar to what was happening about 7 months ago, when XM kept sending reset signals to all radios for 15 minutes.

Mine has done that at least 5 times since I've owned the car the last 1 1/2 years. It happens more often when the car has been sitting for a while. At least all the presets are still there.

My presets are all there. And the stereo is typically on XM1 presets when the car is started. I have noted if I toggle over to my XM2 presets after the car is started, while the presets are all there, the radio momentarily displays XM Ch001. It refreshes in a second or two and then preset channel will display and play.

My RL is in a garage at home and the office, so I assumed it was a signal reception issue.

I've noticed the same occasionally. The last time this happened was in the last couple of days and also happened in our Pilot, so sounds like an XM problem and not a radio problem.

Thanks, guys. I'll assume it was the "XM glitch". This is maybe the 2nd or 3rd time this has happened, but it could have been a hiccup each time. Like Tampa, mine stays garaged when it's not on the road, so signal loss is a possibility.

I don't think the receiver is active when the car is off - so I don't think signal loss is a factor.

The reason I say that is mine is outside normally, and it takes about 3 - 5 minutes for the traffic info to appear.

If the problem was over last weekend, I did NOT have the problem (the car WAS in a gargage but that doesn't affect XM - I still receive it in that garage).

strange - I read this thread yesterday. Then, after starting car to head home, XM was in preview mode. All presets were still intact, so nothing lost, but now I don't want to read any more threads about other problems

If the presets are still there but it is reverting to preview, it could be due to channel changes by XM. When they add or take away channels, I think the basically have to re-initialize your radio, so it reverts to the preview channel. I have seen this happen in the past.

I've never lost my presets, but I've had a couple of occasions where I start the car and it's on the preview station, and I know I didn't tune it there before I turned the car off.

It's only happened maybe two or three times in the year and a half I've owned the car.
