Dallas NavTraffic Flow Data?

I just noticed today that there is traffic flow data for some of the freeways in Dallas. I've had my 2006 RL for two years, and have been waiting very patiently for this. The XMRadio Navtraffic site still shows that Dallas/Ft Worth only has traffic incident coverage, so maybe this is just a test.

Has anyone heard any announcements?

Yup....Dallas was finally added. This was "supposed" to have happened months ago, but was delayed. They went active on 7/1. No, it isn't a test.

Did the flow data automatically display or did you have to do anything else? I'm not seeing any flow data on the nav screen. (I understand the zoom scale must be half mile or greater).

Thanks,
Dave

Assuming you have the Nav Traffic service, which is extra. If you do, make sure your Traffic icons are turned on. I think the Voice command: Traffic On

The other way you can check is to say Traffic Incidents, and if you are getting local incidents, but not seeing it on the screen, I think your traffic icons may be turned off.

Thanks Chas. Yep, I have the traffic service from XM. I suspect there may be a problem as the voice command 'Display Traffic Incidents' yields the response 'No Incidents within 30 Miles'. Living and driving in the Dallas area, that is unlikely. Also, there are no color coded lines on the major highways with flow info.

In searching and reading other posts, I did reset the nav system, but that didn't work either. There is a related TSB on this. Guess I'll keep asking. Haven't tried the dealer (Goodson in my case), but they haven't been too helpful for these detailed questions. Through this forum, I'm often more knowledgeable than they appear to be.

Regards,
Dave

I live in Dallas and just bought an 05 RL. Could someone fill me in on how to get the traffice alert service. Do I have to order the whole satelite radio or can I just get traffic? Thanks

You have to buy the basic XM service, then the Nav traffic sits on top of that as a separate charge. See the sticky on renewals.
